You're very good at styling junipers! I'm loving these videos working on this fantastic mature material, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you produce with these next two trees!

When it comes to junipers you really know how to bring out the best of them. Before I used kill junipers and i wanted to give up. Nowadays their thriving and pushing new growth, thanks to your vast knowledge on how to care for them properly.

Hello Dave, from South Africa (also southern hemisphere with similar climate, i think) this year, I've just let my junipers grow untouched.. is now a good time to prune back hard, and style these trees? love your work. have a good one mate!
@Bonsaiworx2 жыл бұрын
Yep I do mine at this time as they have put out all their spring and summer growth and it’s a good time for it.

Hey Dave great video. Love seeing ur thought process on design. I have a question so I bought a few shimpaku junipers as it was stated and I'm wondering because when u call it a shimpaku it's used as a general term within bonsai for a juniper. What I want to know is what is the difference between a itoigawa or kishu and is one better than the other and what type of shimpaku do u usually work with? The foliage is very soft on mine and pretty compact. I looked online and it's pretty hard to tell the foliage apart.
@Bonsaiworx2 жыл бұрын
Very hard to tell them apart. Really tight and compact foliage on itoigawa where Kishu is a little bit more leggy but not by very much.

@@Bonsaiworx thanks Dave was just curious which one do u think u use the most?
@Bonsaiworx2 жыл бұрын
Honestly whatever i can get my hands on. There is more kishu but I would prefer itoigawa.

Dave, two questions if I may? Is that a Wisteria on the leaflet at the start of your video and what is the species of Juniper you worked your magic on in the video please?
@Bonsaiworx2 жыл бұрын
Yep it’s a wisteria. The juniper is a prostrata but could be known as procumbens as well.
@mikeswain19452 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the help Dave, really appreciate. I'm in the UK so it's probably a Procumbens over here.

how do you take care of juniperus chinensis, I see all your juniper chinensis trees are growing thick leaves..?
