for an exotic looking tree display, aquarium shops are a good source for unusual shaped rocks with dark to vivid colors and textures.

The faceted rocks are up on the tops of the hills. The stuff in the reservoir itself is more rounded, and there is more variation in mineral type also. There has been a lot of suiseki collecting in this area over the years, so we know the minerals are nice. However, I prefer faceted rocks for pines and in general for ROR.

So they let you collect rocks there in butte?
@Bonsaify3 жыл бұрын
Short answer: Yes. Longer Anwer: Always check local regulations when you go collecting. By default in California creeks are public property and rockhounding is allowed for personal use. Access to creeks is normally private, so do not trespass. Here is a good reference for rockhounding in general: www.gatorgirlrocks.com/law/2016-ggr-federal-law-summar.pdf At Black Butte lake, the surrounding area belongs to the USACE and are labeled as "Public Lands" where hunting, fishing, trapping etc are all allowed. The BLM regulations apply to the land areas (so see summary at link above.)
