I've watched 1000's of videos, but never watched a "Bonsai Tree" video (prior to this one). I must say my friend, you've set the bar very high for other video producers. This video is so incredibly informative/educational, while being very relaxing and shares with the viewer, the beauty of nature. Not only in the scenic area you chose for your introduction and background (presumably where you live), but in the "hands on" joy of working with nature. Thank you for sharing.

Another quality video, my friend! You use words much more economically than I do. I tend to over-explain things in my video. I should just get to the point and then move on. You did a great job on the final tree.

Good vid! Got a tip for you - wire the tree with 120 degree angles NOT 90. When wire is coiled 45 degrees it actually acts like a spring and will try to straighten over time. You also use less wire and save $$$ :)

@BonsaiTalk
@BonsaiTalk 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by Yvette Herrera! Let's grow! First of all, never touch a weak, unhealthy plant before doing anything of this. Find the cause of that problem, then let it recover.. This transformation was done in November month, late end of the growing period, beginning of dormancy in my zone. This little tree has it's wintersleep right now, and will be repotted in spring. I always use pure diatomite for nursery/yamadori material.

Hi and great video. i have just got into the hobby and was wondering how you select the size of wire you use and why? Many thanks
@BonsaiTalk
@BonsaiTalk 6 жыл бұрын
Depends. Rule of thumb is to have the wire 1/3 to 1/2 of the diameter, gauge of the branch size, sometimes you use double wire and sometimes you use a size that's just perfect for the task..

Please I am a nub or beginner and was wondering how long does the tree need the wire wrap in order to hold the shape when do we know when to unwrap the tree or do we unwrap it. ?
@BonsaiTalk
@BonsaiTalk 6 жыл бұрын
The tree decides when it time to take of the wire - always remove wire before it digs into deep. Some species doesn't need more then one wiring to stay in that shape, others need several over the years in development. Let's grow Miki Summey!

I'm just starting my bonsai journey, and i'm a total noob. However, i'm also a fellow swede and it's awesome to to find your channel. Young juniper can be bought everywhere? I would love to know exactly where to find some. My searches on google are yielding poor results. Can they be bought online or only at some plantskola? Cheers!
@BonsaiTalk
@BonsaiTalk 6 жыл бұрын
Sup brorsan! You can find them at any swedish gardencenter, lantmännen, sometimes jula, byggmax outside.. This specific plant was bought on ICA kvantum, outside from a plant stand, no jokes.

hello sveska , is there any root trimming required in the process?
@BonsaiTalk
@BonsaiTalk 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Slim Sassi! Sveska? Normally i would repot if it was spring work.. But since this was and still is in the middle of winter, a conifer needs to be dormant and not over-stressed.

I bought Caragona spinosa and it's stem is 0,5cm thick. Is it possible still to transform it? It's solid and can not be bent by a hand...
@BonsaiTalk
@BonsaiTalk 6 жыл бұрын
If it's very solid i would not bend it, if it's a younger branch it can be worked, when branches get that white color on semi tropicals, tropicals some varietes will harden off, in the stages where they are starting to become mature it's easier to perform bends. Caragona spinosa, Carmona Microphylla and Zanthoxylum piperitum are one of those species ect.
