Fabulous content. I've been looking for check marks on table cells and accessibility. You explained it all so clearly, thanks so much.

Hey Dax, would you be able to provide the PDf of this complex table before your edits? I would like to do this step-by-step so it's more hands on. If not, that's fine too. Thanks for producing great content!

Hey Patrick, Thanks! I will post it in the PDF Accessibility Facebook group.

Hi there, thanks for video. I applied it easily due to the good explanation. However is there a way to apply the structure on similar PDFs. I have a complex table 1 page long, which repeats 500+ times with other numbers. Only the numbers change, everything else in the table stays the same.

So from my understanding, Voiceover on a Mac doesn't work the same as NVDA or Jaws, correct? Can you recommend a program for Mac users for read aloud purposes? I've done all the steps necessary to make my tables accessible, but Voiceover still doesn't announce the cells properly.

You are correct. If you are a MAC user and remediating documents, testing on a PC with NVDA or JAWS should be part of your workflow. You can run Parallels (PC Emulator) but I hear there are some keyboard shortcut issues that require workarounds. Someone asked in our PDF Accessibility Facebook group about that as well. Sadly, the only option for MAC is Apple Voice Over. However there is a new screen reader for Mobile called AD Reader that will be available for MAC in the next month or so.

Do you have any idea why when adding the column headers that don't exist, for example "Scope", in this example, why NVDA does not recognize the text? For example, it will say the right amount of columns, but then will say Column 1 - and read the name of the column that actually exists. I now this is out of the context that you are presenting but just thought I'd ask as I can't seem to find answers elsewhere.

If you make structural changes to your document you will need to close and open it again or close and open NVDA again for it to reprocess the document. Also, check your table in Callas PDFgoHTML to ensure what you think is the structure is actually correct.

Hi Dax. You're a lifesaver, however, I'm dying because I cannot find any resource to remediate a fillable table. It's, essentially, Time: Sun-Sat header for columns with (under Time) 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM Row Headers and every day/time point is fillable like a form (the whole document is a form). I'd be more than happy to send it to you to look at for clarification. I'm running out of places to turn.

Hi Dax, Thanks. works fine. However while validating im getting "Associated with content - Failed" error. How to resolve that
@PDFA2 жыл бұрын
Since this video was released Adobe has changed the way it evaluates tables. This technique will pass PAC but not Acrobat. So yeah, not really a workable solution. Now you have to "Edit PDF" then add the text, create the tag and insert it into the TH. You can color it the same as the background to keep the visual presentation. But yeah. It is a process.

Thanks Dax. This is helpful

Justin, not sure where your comment went. Seems like it might have been removed. However, to answer your question, the reason NVDA still refers to the old table structure even though you have modified it is because you have to close your doc or close NVDA to and open again to get it to re-evaluate the table structure.

Thank you Dax. Can't say enough about how helpful your videos are and then to also receive a reply so quickly, really is unheard of. Thanks again.
