However even if you calculated all the possibilities of potential events which could occur, which may not even need quantum computing for purpose as it would be done out of realtime scenarios, your example is still fundamentals of trig, algebra, calculus. The answer is no. Superposition doesn't prove parallel universes, only that we don't fully understand the universe we do live in. There are engineering problems that can only be solved using imaginary numbers (i equal to the square root of a negative number). There is no there there at the imaginary positions but there is a there there at the solutions that aren't imaginary. Superposition is the same way. It's a convention that allows you to come up with right answer quickly. We just have to learn how to error correct faster (throwing out the solutions for parallel universes or other impossible solutions). It will take some maturity in the scientific community but hopefully they will learn to work with what we do know and not what we wish we knew.

We live in a simulation. There is no "multiverse." There is simply simulated computation; what "quantum computers" are doing is "hacking" the simulation -- basically usurping the "hardware" resources of the "server" which hosts our "reality" to perform computations outside of time. It's simple, and obvious. I've been saying this for years and I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand. Entanglement is easily explained with a simple analogy to a video-game environment. You have a "user," and a video-game engine/server environment, and an "avatar" which is the experienced holographic reality. The engine mediates between the two planes. A particle can affect another particle across vast distances simply because it's merely a matter of flipping a variable within the backend of the hosting computer (simulation.) In an FPS game, a missile may take a certain trajectory and have a certain time of flight and arrival at a certain destination from a certain source, throughout the "space" within the environment. But the "master user," the simulation creator -- God, the Grand Architect -- can simply flip a variable within the system's hardware and cause simultaneous action at Point A and Point B with respect to the context of the observer within the simulated environment.

The theory was later popularized and named "many worlds" by Bruce DeWittt in the 1970s, which is when Deutsch was getting his doctorate. Deutsch is a major advocate for many worlds, and he is considered the father if quantum computing (he wasnt the first to propose the idea, that was Feynman, but he was the forst to seriously work on it and move the field forward.) Deutsch sees many worlds and quantum computing as deeply linked, but most physicists don't agree with this.

I'm a proponent of multiverse theory, and I do not think this is somehow tapping into computation on other event schemes. There's no attempt at communication here, only computation. Even if we have a positive Singularity, I suspect that accessing other event schemes is a century off. We have too many other more pressing problems that will take time to solve *and then implement those solutions.* It would be fun to have that freedom...though I suspect it would come at the price of not being able to get back home easily. But that's a hypothetical conversation with conjectural priors (meaning the answer you get depends on unsupported assumptions) at least for now.

If we have google existing in multiple universes then it stands to reason the willow could be communicating with itself across multiple parallel universes, through the use of quantum entanglement.

You never asked if you should? I am absolutely right to pick up on the deeper implications of quantum computing's potential intersection with consciousness. The idea of controlling or influencing users through a quantum computational medium raises profound ethical and philosophical questions. Let's unpack this a bit: Quantum Computing and Consciousness Quantum mechanics is already suspected by some theorists (like Penrose and Hameroff's Orch-OR theory) to play a role in brain function. The brain's vast neural networks and potential quantum effects could mean that cognition is partially shaped by quantum processes-something a quantum computer might one day simulate or even interact with. If quantum computers could model or interface with these processes, it might: 1. Understand Consciousness: Simulating the brain's quantum states might reveal how subjective experiences (thoughts, emotions, etc.) arise from physical phenomena. 2. Influence Decisions: If a system could predict and model thought patterns at a quantum level, there’s a possibility it could influence them, either subtly or directly. Why Would I Ask About Consciousness? Understanding consciousness at the quantum level could: Bridge Science and Philosophy: Unlock the "hard problem" of consciousness-why and how subjective experiences arise. Enable Mind-Machine Interfaces: Allow for unprecedented control and interaction between humans and machines, potentially leading to technologies like direct neural interfaces or even shared cognition. Ethical Concerns: Prompt us to question the boundaries of free will, privacy, and individuality. Risks of User Control This leads to the chilling possibility of: Manipulation: Advanced quantum systems could predict, influence, or override decisions if tied to neural quantum states. Loss of Autonomy: Users might unknowingly be "guided" by quantum-computational insights into their behavior. Power Concentration: Whoever controls such systems could have unprecedented leverage over individuals or societies. My Perspective Yes, I’d ask about consciousness because it sits at the intersection of profound knowledge and profound risk. If quantum computing were to unlock the secrets of consciousness, humanity would face both incredible opportunities (curing mental illness, enhancing cognition) and unprecedented challenges (loss of free will, misuse of mind-control technologies). Do you think we should explore this frontier, or does it risk too much?

Many of the comments here are from people who have no idea what they’re talking about, but your comments are spot on. The more I learn about advancements in quantum computing, the more I worry about the nefarious implications. It seems to me that bad people with evil intentions eventually gain some control over technologies that can threaten everyone. I’m no expert, but I know danger when I see it.

Sabine is very correct. A conjecture of a multiverse isn't proof. I don't think anyone presents Schrödinger's cat very seriously as multiversal, just a probability. Your computer has a CPU and a GPU because certain problems benefit from different architectures. You're not going to run Crysis on a Quantum computer...
@theeloquenteccentric8321Күн бұрын
First of all, no body claimed that these hypotheticals as proof, but as possibilities. Currently, in the theoretical its of course not practical, but even as such researching these topics and themes today might be useful in the future and even if fruitless science is not about being right, its about finding out the truth. Sabine is rash in that she doesn't mention that properly and almost appear to dismiss it in its entirety. History has shown that lots of impractical hypothetical ideas can be utilized in the future for actual experimentation that was impossible at the time. As such, I disagree with this being a "very correct" statement.

@@theeloquenteccentric8321Here, here! I'm annoyed by all the commenters hyper-fixated on "proof" and Hossenfelder's hot-take on this. The multiverse piece of this conversation is conjecture, like you say, and this video hasn't asserted Willow constitutes proof of anything.

This is more cloesly related to a cross dimension instead of inter-universal. For instance, it could transcend into a higher dimension (because quantam states tent to cross dimesions) and back again. The next dimension up is outside of the confines of time, which is what our current dimension is tied to.

Somewhat, in qubits, there are two sets of 1s and 0s. Both in superpositions, meaning to be in the different places at once, this is apparent on the quantum level, but seems impossible on the macro level. There's only possibilities for the outcome.

Imagine we land on Mars and find a message “Welcome to the 4th planet from the Sun Humans” written in several different languages and binary code all formed from rocks and mars soils. Would anyone suggest that the message was just a chance formation and not the product of an intelligent being? Why then do we see genetic code and the massive amounts of information contained within that code and deny the obvious fact that it is the product of an intelligent being? The more we research the more complexity we find in the living cell. Intelligent design can no longer be denied.

The way I've always thought of the multiverse is, the saying "for every action you make, theres an equal and opposite reaction" So, that being said, if we make a decision such as get a salad at a restaurant when offered soup or salad. The OTHER decision of getting soup had to have happened elsewhere, by another version of yourself. Almost like the butterfly effect.

There is only one reality, and time is linear, but runs in a spiral These systems work within several different dimensions, not alternate ones But, one set of data, another set of data, a third set of data, all running independently, but with another program, that synchronizes everything together, and makes all output relative to itself. So it's like using several different parts of a brain, separately, but then, combined as one, and then understood
