AUT's Summer Update is Tragic, and I'm Crushed :(

I was really REALLY hoping this would finally be the redemption arc that I desperately wanted AUT to partake in, and it just isn't that.

Head dev Q here, haven't watched the full video yet but I want to give preliminary thoughts, -once I finish I'll update this comment- I finished, read below for full edit. This update was not meant to be a full fix of all the game's issues. We can't do that in one update for many reasons. Our priority is to get out a fair amount of content that will keep players tided over while we work on overhauling major aspects of the game. As stated in the afterword, we have spent a lot of time reprogramming parts of the codebase. This is important for what we have planned in the future, which includes combat reworks and PVE reworks. If you wanna talk with no sugarcoating, I'm down for it, I'm looking to get actual feedback from people as I want to make this game better. The hardest part for me was having to release a update I would not fully enjoy as a player, but there are concessions se need to make. Edit: Alright, finished watching, how about I bash the thing I work on for a bit? It's no secret that this game suffers from two major issues. A. Shallow, boring, repetitive combat B. Shallow, boring, repetitive progression It doesn't take a genius to realize that combat in this game is a unfun stun-gallore. Nearly every single closed-range move does tons of stun, can combo extend into each other even when they shouldn't, some even being able to COMBO into CUTSCENE MOVES, and that's not even mentioning one of the biggest issues. *Moves. Are. Not. Cancellable. When I hit someone in a combat game while they're performing a move. I. Expect. Them. To. Be. Interrupted*. There is little, even no risk at times, against throwing out moves willy-nilly, because your opponent simply can't cancel it by hitting you. There are no punishes to be made on your enemy while they're performing a move till the end, and even then, they'll most likely slip out of your punish anyways. There are no trades in this game, there is nothing interesting to the neutral game in this combat. There's only moves, avoiding them, or getting hit. This results in clunky, unintuitive combat. Why should you approach your enemy and try to stop their attack if you get hit in the end anyways? Not only that, but combat lacks a lot of core features that would make it more interesting. There is no knockdown state as you said, there is no form of "meter" to balance out incredibly strong moves like Time Stop (pre-super-duper nerf of course), and what does exist leaves a lot to be desired. - LMBs deal tons of stun. They are not cancelable by your opponent, and they are very good for combos even with V3 in the mix. Reducing their stun isn't an option either till we make more moves cancelable. - In most situations, you wouldn't want to use your block at all. It's very easy to get block broken, and when you get block broken, it guarantees a free combo for your opponent no matter what. Blocking is not desirable. - Barrages suck too. Most of them instantly come out on the first frame, can combo extend greatly, can be canceled instantly by the user so there's no risk to using them, and cannot be canceled by opponents. There is little to no risk in using barrages. I'm not really going to bother touching on progression as I talked a lot about that before, and I have very extensive plans in regards to them. Let me talk for a bit about myself, behind the scenes, why we're here, and what we'll do next. It's not really a secret that a lot of our previous updates, were disasters. Poorly conducted testing, developer burnout and internal feuds, huge issues with the game's security being compromised thanks to a former developer, and all of the fun stuff that comes with developing a Roblox game. For obvious reasons, I won't elaborate on all of it, but I want to just put it out there that we've been going through some shit to put it simply. I spent most of March and April dealing with a major internal issue, then wound up not being available throughout May and June. We're all tired, a lot of us are programmers that joined after New Universe released, struggling to deal with what we've been left (or rather, how little) by most of the old former developers on this team. We've spent a lot of time reprogramming huge chunks of the game in order to be better sustainable, we've had to constantly deal with old code that got in our way and made our lives miserable, we have to figure out how to do a 180 on the combat and progression, with the only guidance being from ourselves, as no one in the old team planned ahead far enough for this. We've spent most of our time dealing with issues from prior, and now that has finally begun to pay off. We are finally in the position to do what we want to do; rework combat, rework the progression, and make the game better. I've drafted out and set into motion numerous plans, and now we've begun to act on them. Words don't speak as loud as actions, however, and from the perspective of everyone outside the dev team, this can just be considered meaningless PR talk, and I get that, I'm not asking anyone to have faith in me or us, especially when I found it very hard to put my own faith into the game to begin with. Bluntly, I do not enjoy playing this game, in fact, I'd go as far as to say I downright hate playing it. That's why, above all, I am working to make this game something I can enjoy alongside the broader community. I won't sugarcoat any of the things that I have to say which are negative about the game, and I won't sweep anything under the rug or beat around the bush. If you, or any other major figures in the community want to talk about the game, I am all ears. Appreciate the feedback even if a lot of it is negative.

Honestly this is the issue, the thing with grinding and Ai even though we had too many stuff to make before, this is not how we want them to be and no we don't leave it intentionally like that, this is the only resources we could work at that time and still is right now because we didn't want to make new AIs and Grinding without having the core of the game codebase cleaned up for consistency and we've said that we're cleaning it up after getting part 1 done and after part 2 we'd be doing a combat and grinding rehaul, we're just trying to fix most of the stuff whilst releasing content for everybody, It's really hard to keep it that way and if we close the game for that issue lots of people would complain, this is just an inevitable thing that had to happen with the update, but we're not gonna stop at that we'll continue one by one, I already know of this happening because of what we had to work with to get this part 1 out, we'll keep working these videos out just keeps me actually motivated rather than disappointed we'll keep going till everything related to PVE and PVP combat is rehauled because that's our concurrent plan after cleanup.

Hi, Aut tester here. Can definitely say we CONSTANTLY reported the diavolo TE bugs. And not much happened as a result of it. While they did listen to a lot of what was reported this was an issue that just never got fixed even though it was reported multiple times. The map bugs were something I never even saw in testing. It's definitely something that showed up upon release of the update.

simple fix for aut: keep your different stun shenanigans but added m1 clashes, so 2 parties cannot m1 at the exact same time without both of the attacks being cancelled, and both players knocked back

7:00 Hey, actually.. Tusk is completely broken and considered bug abuse now if someone hits road roller on it, because it makes the nail shots from T M1, and F completely desync from tusk. And because tusk itself has a hitbox, no other stand has this btw. the Dio boss, for whatever reason, is focusing on where tusk is desynced to be. As for your questions about the map, developer insight: It wasn't actually ready yet, it had another week or two to go to polish and refine it up. We were supposed to get a metro system to be able to fast travel wherever, so that players who don't use bikes, or horses.. Or, PS.. Can just get to where they need to be. The timestop changes are honestly really dumb, since it completely kills combo potential or starters for alot of abilities. SP:TW literally has burst timestop and normal timestop where you can spam, one after another.

Brick Battle was the one ability I was most hype for, since I love Brick Battle, but now that I can use it, I’m not a fan of it. Wall is basically useless, and most of its projectiles come off from the side, not in front of you, and that’s a problem because when using shift lock, it makes the projectile not centered. Also new abilities are overpriced and the thugs have been even harder to grind to compensate!😃 Love train, a 500k ability that also needs you to get really low chances when digging stuff up, look for corpse parts, then fight Johnny can barely fight 2 thugs. And Diavolo… he’s a buggy mess. Gets flung a lot, gets bugged by time stop ending when his time erase ends, it’s just a buggy mess, and there is no kill share so you have to be the one to kill him. Don’t recommend the new update if you like games that don’t have many bugs

I just want AUT to have consistent hitboxes, less stun, and equal stun. The most infuriating thing is that they added d4c:lt, right? But base d4c’s dimension hop is still SO BUGGY that its PRACTICALLY UNUSABLE because whenever you use it, you either risk getting punished, since youre visible during dimension hop (which is a bug). Not only that, you risk making everyone around you PERMANENTLY INVISIBLE which is only fixed by relogging. Its horrible because dimension hop is supposed to be d4c’s main move and its like walking onto a minefield of bugs whenever you use it. Tldr; they added d4c:lt, but base d4c is still buggy as all holy hell

YBA fixed the timestop issue by resuming time but still keeping every victim of the TS stopped, so things like projectiles move and then hit a split second before they're able to move again. This is also why things like the infinite fat glitch worked, and why you can deal over half health in a TS with the cap. That split second at the end allows you to fit in 2 LMBs or 1 more move. A lot of people probably already know that, but I just wanted to say that for those who didn't. And I think AUT could fix their TSes and the ragdolling issue by doing that. Maybe they already have, this video was a whole month ago. But I don't play AUT much so I haven't tested it.

Instead of just being allowed every single ability in the 1v1's, they should of just left the 1v1's as is and had that feature as a separate mode of 1v1s. Another cool one they could do would be to have 1v1 with access to all abilities but have it as randomized, which I feel might be quite fun to play and have a go at the different abilities without the possibility of just being overwhelmed by the selection of all abilities screen that 1v1 now offers.

There are another bugs I found: sans get stun when he got attack that shouldn’t stun. Stands like weather report with their frog rain which shouldn’t be stunning makes sans stun which is a main problem why sans is bad.

On a slightly unrelated note, AUT's combat is exactly why I dislike the current state of Anubis in YBA. Anubis, especially with Pluck is quite literally an AUT stand. Same type of M1 stun, same type of long combos, same type of players who run away and wait for their combos to come back after landing one.

A proposal to completely fix the minute long combos: make m1s like jabs from smash bros. First hit has endlag, and if it hits, it buffers the 2nd hit. which makes it cancel the endlag and true combo into the 2nd, and after the 2nd hit, the finisher comes out automatically and knocks them back. If you spam click m1s, only the first hit comes out, and the rest of the combo only comes out if you hit the m1. Make the m1 combo do 15-30 damage.

Honestly imo LMB V3 is one of the best M1 systems to come into AUT. This LMB system allows combos to not feel like your waiting for hours for the combo to be finished and makes the game feel more fast pace. And bugs are always a problem on huge updates like this one so give the devs like a week for them to fix most of them and the game should feel more polished. They are also making balance changes to stands/specs that the community finds to be a problem. Of course this is only my opinion ;)

watching the video, it looks like almost nothing changed about m1s other than you can only do 1 string in a combo. thats dogshit the core aut combat is still the same and its boring as fuck. changing the m1s wont change how campy and monotonous the game's playstyle is. every move is uncancellable and has lingering hitbox which encourages camping and less direct confrontation. game is ass all around

one of my biggest problems with this update is that they gave the thugs almost the entire standless moveset, if you're trying to grind for ucoins and you fight like 6 thugs at the same time they'll just somehow get out of stun and drop kick you at once and if you're using a stand that has a barrage and you barrage them, they'll just teleport behind you and drop kick you

There are a ton of buggy things with this update but mobile did get a huge help, mobile buttons save when you leave and join back so you don’t have to rearrange them, and FINALLY since the release of the game I bought the emotes game pass and could never use them because there was no button for it but a hella long time later there’s a button for it only question I have is why’d it take so long to add one small little button

I've been having the most amount of fun with AUT now than ever before. But like you mentioned, it still has a lot of the smaller, dumber bugs it had before. Hopefully they'll fix those things in upcoming patches since it really seemed like they focused entirely on new stuff this update.

One of the big problems with aut is that the devs is that they pay too much attention to detail instead of looking at the bigger picture. What they fail to understand is that the reason people don't play aut isn't because whitesnake is poorly designed, its because the combat system sucks. The reason people don't play main game isn't because of the map, it's because there's nothing to do there. They don't listen to their players and what they want, which is why aut is probably not gonna get better.

i havent watched the full video yet but if youre going to talk about the sans stun problem, i think sans it okay. sans getting half the stun is good, heres why. If sans took full stun, his “dodge bar” would just be equivalent to a normal health bar. thered be no difference. itd just be added health to his “1/1” health. however, half the stun makes his dodge bar actually have a use and not just be a health bar.

The one thing that is missing in aut is that we need a dungeon game mode. Its not gonna be like stand upright dungeon's its gonna be more interesting to do and they need to add 6 storylines in the game like phantom blood, battle tendacy, stardust crusaders, diamond is unbreakable, vento aureo, Steel ball run. Now aut players will say they don't want to grind that much and don't wanna waste there time on 1 storyline but storyline is literally the only thing that can save aut. And storylines would be fun in a game

10:00 as a tester for another JoJo game, the whole of the "bosses not being tested" is correct and incorrect, the testers for AUT most likely did test the boss and reported the bugs, but that doesn't mean that they always get fixed, it might've gotten moved up in the channel, forgotten about, or straight up ignored. I've seen a lot of this happening from yours and other AUT reviews on updates. But then again they might've played a different version of the update saw that the ai was working well and whenever the scripter released the next update for them to test they might've broken the ai in someway (happens more times than you think)

Tbh I have 3 problems, the m1s, the cooldowns and crazy diamonds moveset Like the combos for crazy diamond is pretty bad because the T and Y move are easily canceled and hard to land, the m1s are ruined because that's what carried the entire game, the m1 combos. Also the cooldowns broke and dont show most of the time so you gotta coin toss or count how long you used the move, which made the entirety of combat WAYYY WORSE

Data loss is also a big problem since people with very high unob stands lost their stands due to their new universe update. I lost hpp which is now the best unob apparently in the tier list and you can't even get a restore so I really just gave up on the game. Most of my friends were rich but because of their data issue they lost everything. They even pressed the restore button but it never restored what they had equipped. We all had our rarest equipped and we don't really feel like playing the game anymore after all the work we did to get the rare stand. I hope Kur at least makes a REAL WORKING restore system where you can actually restore everything you had gained before the new universe.

I just got an idea for combat system Presenting to you! M1s v1.5 Its like m1s v1, but i got a simple solution, the longer the combo, the lower the damage you deal, meaning if u made a combo of 120 hits for example, u would end up screwing yourself, making a pathetic 60 damage, and thus, incitating to end a combo faster, so you wont be on the classic "oh shit he just hit me, guess ill have to wait till my hp goes red!" I code on roblox and to my understanding, the sound the gun makes shouldn't at all be hard to code in, as you can detect when an object touches something, so they could have had it to where if the gun hits the ground, it plays the sound. still cool that they put that there though. but its also sad to see some other obvious things be missing in the game. the details in this game are either amazing or horrible.

Because of thie LMB3 update, Whitesnake consistantly cannot use its Disk Extaction ability. In order to even hit it, you either have to use Acid Strikes first or LMB once or twice and THEN use the Disk Extraction, because for whatever reason, even the stun time for specific punches is different. It's off by literal miliseconds, but thats all it takes. Also this is just me, but whats the point in even using any of the disk moves, if you can do more (if not) an easier combo by just pressing LMB + E + LMBx2 + (and then either R or Y)=70-90 damage. Just making Disk Extraction combo with Disk Insertion. Allows the need to use it and lets you pull off either a bit more damage or a bit more stun to do one more move. Can't tell you how frusterated it feels to know when I heard Whitesnake's rework was going to be better than Yba's Whitesnake version of it, I was actually hyped up. Now when it finally came out; even though I still love Whitesnake and I think your version is 80% better than Yba's version, using things like off-stand moves just goes through people sometimes, the pilot is too slow to catch up to people and would get you punished rather than being an advantage, and even something as simple as not being able to use Melt Your Heart in pilot is really killing it for me. Compared to the other two legendaries that came out, Whitesnake just feels seriously left out due to the lack of flexible combos and the lack of originality. And thats just with Whitesnake. Still praying that AUT can become my go to game since atm Yba is getting dry for me. With all respect to the dev's, please make this game great.

the new M1 V3 feels like NST(great small game) which has no cooldowns and instead stamina, issue is the stamina forces you to use non-optimal combos and waste time between hits, making some abilities way better since they have long stun and high knockback, other abilities are powerful due to low stamina cost, allowing you to string combos together doing low damage but the way you want to do it. The only issue is some abilities are far too good at stamina and some too bad. Abilities like fist has 2 hit combos which bearly cost stamina. In contrast to spear which has 3 charge moves which eat your entire stamina to be optimal, which leads to needing to drop a combo and walk away (because blocking running and dashing cost stamina)

For me, this is a good update, is a big one, brings a lot of content; but is not enjoyable. The combat feels strange, it have a lot of errors. I want to get Love Train but to start the quest they want me to have 500,000 uCoins (I don´t have to much time to grind that much, I just have 88,000 and I don´t have any AoE moves that can help me kill a lot of thugs at the same time and fast) The quest to get umbra and the other new fighting styles have so exagerate processes, at least less of them. I think that they make Tusk barrages dont work in love train because they dont want Tusk to be an Anti-Love Train the 100% of the time, so they had to make that some abilities do not traspass love train, which is ok in my opinion. Besides, there is a problem with SPTW burst time stop which I dont understand why that happened. Anyway, my opinion; The combat feel wrong, they must fix it, the quests and griding makes me wanna sleep, the map looks good and some combat contitions are ok
