Boo Day 202 - A Campfire For Cats - Training A Feral Cat

Boo loves to have his belly rubbed. Stella and Simba love laying on the tray of cat grass. I built a campfire for the cats. Stella,, Simba, and Boo ate crunchies by the campfire. Everything was peaceful until I brought the party platter out then Stella got angry. Maybe it triggers bad memories for her. Stella loves her cardboard cat house. Simba misses his cat tower that is now in Boo's room.

Boo is learning the benefits of being a gentleman! Not just crunchies (although important. ;) ), but praise and love from his hooman. He has come such a very long way, and we're all proud of him....and of Simba, who knows how to walk on by (ala Dionne Warwick) and not make a fuss. Poor Splash and Simba---Mama done scared them off! Boo in feline heaven with his morning massage, kitties lounging on their cat grass bed, what more could you want?

Sure are a lot of ill mannered people commenting on tonights video..People need to stop projecting themselves and their belief on how the cats should behave and how fast they should be at accepting Boo and vice versa..everyone learns at their own pace,animals ,humans etc.You have your good and bad days and the moods that reflect that and the cats as well.I come on to enjoy watching the story and progression of them all ,if it brought that much negativity to my thoughts as it seems to do for some I'd just move on .

I thought all of the cats made great progress today! Even Splash, who observed that even when Mommy Stella loses her cool for a second, things can quickly go back to normal. 👍😺❤ Stella did great except for that one moment, so later when she decided she'd had enough, she removed herself to her happy place instead of losing her temper. 👍😸🏆 I love how Boo seems to be a completely black cat until he flips over on his back and you can see that adorable patch of white on his belly. 😍🐱❤ That campfire is the coolest thing, you're so creative, LF! 🏅🔥

Stella's pedicure: an intimate moment. As the only female, she can't let herself go; she has to keep up her standards of beauty AND set a good example for her boys. She certainly has an eye for the esthetic of your pretty campfire. They did so well eating together; I think the platter made it just too close for her comfort zone just yet. Boo was on best behavior. Splash is just so beautiful sitting by the back door. It's funny how sometimes you'll catch a flash of the baby they once were; I saw a bit of Simba-the-kitten in the first shots of him reclining half-on the grass.

I adore Stella and her little house! She is clearly setting the social structure by swatting at Boo, who appears to be accepting her status (as the Queen). He’s a smart boy! He is not afraid of her and does NOT want a conflict. Not sure what the trigger is regarding the party platter - is it territorial (that’s mine)? Is it being too close to Boo? Bad memory or something else? I think Stella (and the boys) have been very tolerate of sharing her territory with Boo. I cannot imagine how stressful this change has been for her as she adjusts to setting new social boundaries and territory with Boo. We all want them to get along, but it is ultimately up to Stella and Boo to what degree of friendliness (or tolerance) they want. Stella eating crunchies in such close proximity to him is a good sign!! :-) Keep up the good work, LF!

My 16 year old cat Miso HATED the two kittens I added to my household, two years apart to each other (so we went through that twice). At first, she wanted to kill them on sight from across the room. In both cases she learned to tolerate them enough that she doesn't bat an eye if they curl up for a snooze a couple of feet away from her. But if they dare get close, even for a harmless nose bump, she will hiss at them and whack them on the head. I am very happy with that progress. And they all seem pretty content with it too.

I'll go against my nature and be the glass half full guy again. What I saw in that video was Stella making amazing progress by calmly eating crunchies with Boo and Simba for several minutes. She eventually lost her cool for a moment, but come on, that was such a big step forward. She's probably always going to remain a little hissy with Boo and whack him on the head when he gets too close, and that's ok. Cats will be cats.

Maybe think about a larger container for the cats to hang out. It seems like such a great focal piece for the cats. They love it. As for Stella she is just asserting her territorial instincts over the boys. Samba and Splash know who is boss and Stella is just making sure Boo learns. You can tell he is slowly coming around to this.Stella will never completely control Boo but her presence will curb his impulses to play rough.

boo loved the petting section he looks at you to say thank you he is looking great the last week or so am guessing it must be the vitamins you give him... it was going so well with the three of them eating away, maybe if simba had stayed to his side and left room for Stella she might have been cool...but they are eating together after it plus its the longest they have been besides each other... Grand idea flameless candles. After I got my first cat, I decided I could only use hurricane candles, completely covered and sealed insude the holder so they could absolutely not be tipped causing a fire or some weird kitty droppung a furry ball onto the flame. When the power went out, we had safe lights only. Now I have 2 Luci lughts from Amazon which are solar charged, and I can read with only one on high for about 4 hours. We can also see to get our boat back on the trailer when we fish late. They are great.

You talk to your cats like I talk to the last of my crew .I had many more cats but they are passing away of old age and I cannot replace them ,they are all so different and have their own personality's .To loose any one of them is almost beyond what I can take,I love them so .There is so much more that most people will never take the time to see,If they did they would see these guys are better than people as they don't hold grudges,but they do have arguments and disagreements .I have noticed that my cats anyway like dogs more than they like cats or they trust dogs right off the bat as long as the dog does not chase them.

I’ve been watching your KZbin videos on and off since you first brought Stella and her kittens into the house. I was surfing KZbin to find out about feral cats. I’ve been feeding about 18 feral cats for about a year now. Working with Paws, Almost all 18 are spaded or neutered now. I noticed how the male alphas treat the juveniles when they get out of hand or want to test the alpha. Boo is an alpha cat and sometimes alpha cats put juveniles in their place. You can’t punish him for the other cats’ behavior or the juveniles will think it is okay to challenge him because you come to their rescue. They need to work it out themselves. Maybe it is different for inside cats so I could be wrong. I am waiting to see who will challenge Boo next.

I think Boo handle that like a real man. I'm really proud of how far he has come. Keep up the good work. It will be teally worth it. No snow in the winter being cold when it rains you will be inside with your family dry or cool if it in the summer. AC is the best investments one can have. All hour meals service to you. Forget the toys and all the blankets. Once you go thru that door your life has done 360. Even if Simba loves his cat tower in Boo's room, I think Simba was also paying a visit to Boo, as there was no agressivity on Simba or Boo's part. For some reason, I kind of feel that Boo is a little tense/nervous on this video because of Stella's behavior toward him.

Cats and pretty much all critters act on instinct. Some can be trained to do certain things, but might continue to be socially awkward and territorial at times. With all due respect and sincere adoration for this channel, when there's a minor skirmish between cats, my sense is a consistently calm soothing voice will have better results than a scolding voice (the human relaxes, takes deep breaths).

I think Stella swatted Boo because she made a logical choice: Simba shifted left to claim the platter section in front of Stella, forcing Stella to shift left...but there's Boo! She wants those crunchies, she's got to choose a section, and clearly Boo is more deserving of a smack than her son, so....Boo gets whacked. 'Move over, you crunchie hog---you've got two open sections to your left!'
