My 15 yo is a very picky eater and I have to literally line up the best foods in front of her before she eats...and then it's often the first bowl she decides on. She sometimes plays me or she won't eat until she has pooped. Seasons also make a difference I noticed with all of my cats. As long as Stella still eats it may not hurt her to lose a little weight to keep her blood sugar in check. So far she looks good to me though through the screen ❤😻

It seems like Stella may have prediabetes. Maybe consider Stella being prescribed a specialized diabetes cat food. My sweet kitty was very happy on these cat foods and went into remission for five years. She came to me with diabetes. Any 9 years. Diabetes can be controlled in cats with diet for a long time.

That’s why all of the cats are on special low-carb food right now. All of the homemade food is naturally low-carb, but I have to switch their crunchies to low-carb and also make sure that any canned food is low-carb and also snacks. The vet said it’s a good idea to try to lower her blood sugar naturally before it possibly escalating to something worse.

Get well soon Stella. Kitten Kat came into the hallway wanting wet food. When I brought the wet food into the bedroom she ran and hid behind the toilet which made me laugh. Then she went into the bottom drawer space and peeked her head out and looked at me & I told her she is my baby & my kitty & I love her & she is making huge progress as she now does not run away in terror when I go into the hall to the bedroom. She has now been in the bedroom for about a month. I hope eventually she will stop being frightened and come out and get some pets. I think she would like some catnip and toys. - My bronchitis and wheezing came back after weeks of being fine. I had great difficulty breathing for the last 2 days and insomnia. I have a and yesterday I told the allergy clinic I was fine. My lungs decided otherwise. - I got a new electric blanket. Fluffy now lies on it all the time. I am thinking of writing President Trump to send in Federal troops to remove him so that I can get under it and be warm. I now sleep on the other one so the bed is warm as it has been icy cold air here for days. - I had gotten free food from the church on Saturday and was looking forward to baking it with veggies and when I cut it open, the parts and inside were a bright green ! I have never seen a green chicken before & I threw it out.

Reminds me of a Cesar Milan video where this big dog wouldn't eat all of the delectables his owner was always tempting him with. Cesar took the dog to his Dog Psychology center where he had the dog running with the pack, trotting on the treadmill, swimming in the pool, etc. The dog had just been unfulfilled and needed more stimulation and to live like a dog. Right away, the dog was thrilled with just plain old dog food, gulping it down and excited to get it. Maybe Stella needs a frolic outside climbing trees and fasting and really earning a meal. Then again, maybe she needed to rest her GI tract for a day. Hope she was OK! Oops about such a long comment!

possibly, but she went to the vet a few weeks ago and her blood sugar was slightly elevated and so were her white blood cells, so we’ve been making lots of diet transitions

Are Stella's teeth ok? Sometimes they can have tooth problems that can't be seen without xrays. Maybe she doesn't want ti eat because her mouth hurts? Very common in cats. Research tooth resorption in cats.

if you’re referring to the snow in the white plastic tub, that was snow that I brought in from outside after we had a snowstorm.

I hope Stella got back to feeling better. I was thinking could it be a hairball? I feel you as far as opening and trying a ton of cat food to get a cat to eat anything. Sammy loves you and that is so sweet when she cuddled with you.

Never feed tuna. Tuna is very high in mercury because of they way / place tuna falls in the food chain order in the sea. Only mackerel and or salmon. Read can label because one can label mackerel doesn't have any vitamin D. I use pink salmon as it safer for EPA and DHA and has no parasites. Choose the one that is labeled lowest in sodium, no more than 25g per ounce. Run cold water through can to flush salt content out of the pink salmon and the mackerel. NEVER tuna.

Tuna is fine as long as it is served occasionally and not every day or for every meal. My sister ate tuna sandwiches for lunch every single day for several years and never suffered any mercury issues.

I haven't been able to use Friskies canned cat food. 3 years ago it nearly food poisoned my 4 cats. The cans were not holding their seal. The box boys slam the boxes down so hard as if they are trying to crack the floor tiles in the back of the stores that they are popping the seals on all the cans. They do this all throughout the Walmarts in all canned goods aisles at Vicksburg, MS, location and in Warner Robins, GA, locations. It is so loud it is startling. So people food and animal food cans are affected. I have since used 9 Lives. But it is only a matter of time before the stock boys pop those too.

I have a cat with asthma and allergies and switched her to open farm - the raw mix is a huge hit with my cat since it has some freeze dried pieces. She has been showing far less symptoms of allergies and almost no symptoms of asthma since I switched her. I have a feeling carbs were the source of her allergies and I think I was right! Not sure if that’s the brand you were taking about ordering but hope Stella likes it if so. Just an fyi, the regular grain free homestead was not as enticing for my cat. Not sure why, lol.

The other brand is called Young Again. Unfortunately, the Open Farm is 24% carbs since it contains peas, chick peas, lentils, and apples. I have to keep the cats at 10% or below, especially Stella. Glad to year that you cat is doing better on it though. Since it is grain free cat food, it can make a huge difference!
