Booby-Trapped Cars On New Caledonia Streets, France Fails to Stop Riots, Australia Says Ready To Act

Australian PM Anthony Albanese said that the country’s defence forces are ready to fly to New Caledonia amid riots to rescue trapped Australians. Violent protests have broken in the French-controlled South Pacific territory over plans to change voting rules. Nearly 300 Australians registered with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade want to leave the island. Albanese earlier told ABC radio that Australia had been seeking approval from French authorities for two days to send an evacuation flight to New Caledonia. Their request came after the French High Commission authorities closed the international airport and blockaded roads.

Old habbits are dying hard .France is one of the worse examples of 'western idealism' for people who don't know most of North African countries fought for indipendance from France for nearly 20 years after the second world war .France was the sole reason for the Vietnam war .I still don't understand why US never asked the french goverment for compensations. France is still wrestling financial and govermental control over dozens of African countries using their own currency, educational institution, juridictional system and other economic meausures. Recently France lost a lot of influance in parts of Afirca which made Macron to be more agressive in foreign affairs but the problem for France the country is not in position to be able to hold holdings overseas or get into a conflict with Russia and China. If i was New Caledonian I will make pettion to UN for comission and trigger process of indipendance with the support of BRICS and other South Pacific countries .France is to faraway to take any actions.... I know it will bad for future relation between Australia ,New Zealand and France but I think is time for Australia ,New Zealand to rally all the South Island nations and ask the French to give full indipendance to New Caledonia.

Not to be forgotten, New Caledonia is 17,000 km away from metropolitan France and only 911 km as the crow flies or 566 nautical miles from the Australian coast, a stone's throw for the Royal Australian Navy! In the event of a total breakdown of public order, it would be Australia's turn to lead a peacekeeping mission and prevent the Chinese from establishing themselves!
