Boodjamulla National Park - the Ultimate Guide | Lawn Hill | Overland Australia Roadtrip

G'day! In this episode we visit the remote Boodjamulla National Park, (formerly Lawn Hill National Park) in far north west Queensland. We only recently learned about this NP, and were absolutely blown away by how beautiful it is.
We spent 5 days in the park, hiking, swimming and canoeing, and were just constantly amazed by what we were seeing. Yes the roads in and (especially) out were challenging, but it was well worth it.

The road in from Gregory Downs was ok, just a bit corrugated. The road out south to the Barkly Hwy was kinda nasty. The camping cost is $6.85 per person. No pets allowed.

Hi Nigel and Sue Absolutely loving your fresh take on travelling Australia. We are maybe six months from purchasing our Sprinter . I would encourage you to consider rode wireless mikes to improve your audio. Sue you are fine talking directly to the camera but Nige is a bit unclear. Can I ask what is your camera set up for video? Hey thanks for the comment! I’m always telling Nigel to speak up! I’ve done presenting professionally for many years, whereas he is just beginning with speaking to camera. And I’m usually holding it too. We use a combination of a Canon G7x mk iii, a GoPro 7 and an iPhone 13 pro. We have an external mic on the Canon, it’s a Comica. I did a bit of research and it was a toss up between this one and a Rode

We went in from Gregory, and came out down the southern road that comes out on the Barkly Hwy between Mt Isa and Camooweal. FYI, the Gorge is still closed after the floods last wet season. Not sure when it will be reopened.

Yes they are. There is a great info board at the ranger station, which we showed towards the end of the video. And there are 7 rangers there during the peak season, so you’re always likely to find one around if you have questions. It’s definitely one of our favourite parks in Qld.

We didn’t see any crocs. There are freshies in there. But judging by the amount of fish in the water they are never hungry!
