Welcome back! In this episode of our Australia overland Roadtrip we visit Kakadu National Park, Australia's second largest at 22,000 km2, and perhaps the best known. This park is world heritage listed not just for the natural beauty but also for cultural reasons - there are indigenous rock art sites dating back 20,000 years here.
Spanning seven different habitats, we visit the East Alligator River (strangely named, as there are plenty of crocodiles here but no alligators in Australia!), the wetlands, and down into the stone country.
All in our trusty Sprinter van with shot shocks and bald tyres! (Yeah we're still waiting for those to get fixed.)
Please consider subscribing to our channel, it really helps us out!
WHO ARE WE?
We are Nigel and Sue (NaS) Adventures, a couple of outdoor adventurers. When the world went crazy, stopping our overseas travels, we bought and converted a 4x4 Sprinter Van into our tiny home on wheels. We've been Overlanding Australia living in our van since January 2021. Join us as we visit the highlights, but also share some off the beaten path hidden gems, along with the day to day realities of living on the road.

Oh that would be awesome, but most music is copyrighted so we can’t put it in our videos. (Unless we pay for a licence and that would be a hefty charge)

That 12km track looked like a challenge. Was it easy to follow. It looked like the track wasn't very well defined...? I wonder why it's safe to swim at Maguk Gorge? Is it because of the flowing water? I think I'd be too chicken to swim anywhere other than a pool up there! This might be a silly question, but if you stay in a caravan park on an unpowered site, do you still get a water hook up? Or are you able to just fill up your tank? I'm guessing there'd be a lot of us with no need for power due to solar panels etc, but would still like to hook up to water. It's a very long time since I've been on an unpowered site so I have no idea... (new caravan and ute arriving next year, fully kitted up with plenty of solar).

Good questions Carla! I think because of the waterfalls there’s not supposed to be any crocs - although there were plenty of warning signs downstream 😬 Technically you don’t get water with an unpowered site, but after paying $49 we didn’t feel bad hooking up to a tap! Plenty of sun and we have had no problems with our power. Batteries are always full by lunchtime. Thanks for your comments!

PS Do you think the art ‘up high’ was done there or the rocks have moved?!? 🤓
@nigelandsueadventures
@nigelandsueadventures Жыл бұрын
Well the indigenous people believe that their spirit ancestors put the artworks up there. I kind of like that explanation!

My theory is that the creators erected a form of basic scaffolding using tree branches and vine. But it’s certainly something to wonder at
