If Griffith did nothing wrong, he would have put his sword away, and simply asked Guts "Why are you leaving?". If you want a scenario/example where a character in a comparable position and with a remarkably similar ambition and path like Griffith, instead chose to give up on his selfish dream and and to offer up his life along with his comrades and soldiers in the face off certain death, look no further than Erwin Smith from Aot/Snk. The major difference to Griffith ofc is that he didn't intend to become a charismathic leader and inspiring figure, but he accepted the implications and consequences of this nonetheless the same as Griffith. The best example of their likeness in this regard is both being symboly depicted as having climbed to their standing and status by having piled up a mountain of corpses made out of their underlings allowing them to come closer to their respective goals. On the other hand if you want an example of what Griffith would have become, if he hadn't foolishly decided to sleep with Princess Charlotte and jeopardize his own future and dream, I would say the best canidate (in anime/manga at least) would be King Canute from Vimland Saga, whise dream is also to create a utopia/paradise like Falconia, just in historical fictional setting and through equally cruel (Ends justify the means) yet, wellmeaning methods like Griffith did.

@@IronWarhorsesFunI’m ngl, Griffith is evil, but the way slaanesh twisted fulgrim is one of the most extreme falls from grace I’ve ever seen in fiction. He always had an ego but all his brothers did and that alone wasn’t a big deal, it was tempered by his philosophy regarding perfection, and the responsibility of the powerful to the powerless. At his best he was an arrogant but ultimately a good person and loyal to his father. Then he found the Laeir blade, and it’s influence led him down a path of inhuman depravity. As a series Berserk can rival the darkness of 40k but Fulgrim after he fell to chaos makes Griffiths actions look like the work of a beginner. He’s like all the worst aspects of Griffith were combined with lovecraft levels of insanity and megalomania. If they met, I assume one of them is not leaving alive and I’m not sure how powerful Griffith actually is compared to a demon primarch. I assume given what I’ve read so far he’s probably got more raw power than Fulgrim but Fulgrim is fundamentally immortal now, so killing him is kinda moot since he will respawn and demons can do weird shit in 40k. The fact he’s been damn near nonexistent in the lore since the heresy Doesn’t help. At least we see Angron fight people Fulgrim got nuked by a former son bc he was a bigger chad than he was and the mfs holding the explosion back let it kill them to inconvenience Fulgrim. I think the king of Midland would still throw Griffith into the dungeon eventually. Griffith would try to marry Charlotte and the king would not be willing to accept that. Developing a philosophy isn't the same as just picking up a sword. It's made from a patchwork of experiences, and whether you learned the right lesson from those experiences. Even if Griffith is a genius, there was never any indication that his Hawks commanders had any insight into what he was feeling or thinking. If anything, Guts was the only one with any real insight into Griffith's psyche, with the slight exception of Caska. Regardless, Griffith was mostly his own teacher through his adolescence. While it's exceptional that he was able to raise a band of mercenaries as a prepubescent boy, one can't expect to grow in all the ways important for becoming a self actualized and whole human being - especially since Griffith's dream was completely self serving.

Why did he deflower Charlotte before the King was okay with calling him an in-law? To serve himself. Why did he sacrifice his family of the Hawk? Yeah, to serve himself. (luckily Femto didn't... you know) Guts loses an arm trying to _rescue_ Griffith, and is also partially blinded when he rescues Casca from meeting the same fate that Griffith did. What makes eclipse so fascinating is if griffith said no, then again he would be kinda a villian for killing all those people because of his dream and then just throwing it away by refusing to reheal( i say during eclipse, even if he could be healed afterwards like discused in the video, he wouldn't have known that during eclipse and thus be more of a irresponsible leader at that time). I think in movies and series there is often that motive that for example main character has decided to "never kill" for example and then they face later in story a choice where if they kill someone they'll save thousands but if they stay passive then thousands will die or similar. So it is a very hard decision and something that as audience u are drawn into bc u don't know what u should do in that place either. Most movies and series don't wanna dirty their main character or make it seem like u can't always win with ur morals never changing so they pretty much make bullshit ending, but berserk does it good bc u actually have to choose and not suddenly find some ideal solution bc in life it's not always ideal. It's damned if u do, damned if u don't. If griffith didn't rape casca, i feel like he wouldn't be hated nearly as much as he is, not even close, as much as eclipse is horrible, rape is one thing that griffith really didn't have to do and what really makes it his "biggest sin" if i can say it that way( oversimplified ofc but that act i feel probokes out of all things the most anger in viewers, without it, eclipse wouldn't be nearly as traumatic as it was)

God shaped his mind and the circumstances of his life, but thanks to the Count we know that every individual with a behelit can still choose his fate, even when all the circumstances and their mindset push them to make the sacrifice.

You missed the first things that Griffith did wrong! Convincing himself that the means, the sacrifice of his soldiers in battle over the years, justified the end of "his kingdom". For what would their deaths mean if he never achieved his goal? Convincing himself that his friendships weakened him and jeopardized his ultimate dream. A struggle snuggle with lady Charlotte... but also, using Guts to do his dirty work with the assassination, which inadvertently led to the death of Adonis. All of these things were pre-eclipse, but definitely led to Griffiths downfall. There was a point when he was good though, thats what makes him so terrifying, and such a great character!

Very cool analysis. From a storytelling standpoint, as usual, Guts and Griffith are opposites. Griffith is one to give in to destiny and agree with Causality. Guts, on the other hand, is a struggler fighting against that causality. It's just a small facet of what makes both of them such compelling characters. It's a very basic part of their characters and what drives them, even before the eclipse. Griffith was obsessed with Destiny and what was owed to him where Guts was always trying to find that answer himself.

ngl griffith redemption will be pretty hard without a tounge. I believe his life for all intensive purpose is done. he will not be going back to anything, it can’t so long as his body cannot regenerate. as his vision showed he would indeed just be an observer to the life around him, tbh it is a miracle if he could even have a kid as he imagined.

I'm a little less sure Caska would survive the ordeal if she didn't have the mark of the sacrifice. I think she would have been one of the casualties of the eclipse. I can even see an alternative timeline where Griffith is the on left with the blacksmith while Gutts traveled around looking for a way to take revenge on God Hand. If that were the case I could imagine the story being almost identical, with all of Caska's parts replaced by Griffith.

Interested to see how will guts combat the now new and flourishing falcon army with physics, humans and Apostles. I have also have noticed the detailed emphasis on children and women on the battlefield seemed to bother Griffith and others a great deal, now guts with Farnese, sherike, the mermaid (most likely to command the sea animals alongside the Kushan sorcerer sea familiars). And the little dagger boy forgot his name. Also with help from unit commander ricket and Erica with thier weapons expertise swooping up salat and his guards. Also i can’t wait to see if all the witches and different beings on elfhiem decides to aid guts in Strengthening guts would be army against griffiths.
@tchoythao55793 жыл бұрын
I think this is how it would go... If Griffith rejected the Behelmit, Skull Knight and the Godhand would be going crazy from the change in history and defilement of causality. However, the only one with PTSD would be Griffith. Guts would be arguably weaker from lack of experience and drive at fighting the apostles during his pre-return Journey, and lack the GodHand. However, Guts would most likely become the new acting commander of the Hawks, while Griffith would become the mastermind if he ever overcomes his trauma with Casca acting as his intermediary. Guts would actually have a much larger party, being the remaining band of the hawks that remained loyal to the trio, and have less interaction from Apostles, since none of the members would be marked, which is the magnet for out of the ordinary supernatural phenomena. Most likely their goal would be to find a cure for Griffith, which would not occur due to the lack of supernatural interaction to lead them to certain magical individuals capable of healing Griffith. This can turn into revenge against the king, in which the hawks would probably join the Kushan as bought mercenaries. This is when the gang starts dealing with supernatural forces, and they will eventually find the information to try and save Griffith, but through Kushan magics. This will probably cause a conflict with the mercenaries and the Kushan army in which will end with the Hawks remaining with the kushans or leaving. This causes two events, the Hawks eventual decline into obscurity in the kushan ranks as no real serious matter would occur that specifically needs any of the Hawk members, or the Kushans/Knights eventually kill them all. Guts would be a powerhouse, but no where near the insane feats he displays as he would not have the dragonslayer, nor the drive and superhuman experience that his Black Swordsman incarnation has, to stop the Hawks from being killed, though he might survive. This just makes Guts into the digruntled warrior who's lost everything, like a cowboy movie, setting him up to be the mentor character towards the real MC, Isidruto, who ends up becoming the all powerful savior of the world and talk-no-jutsu's the Godhand towards good.

I think you forgot the part where Griffith is essentially a vegetable before his transformation into a god hand. With him not able to ever stand again, perhaps he would one day muster enough strength to control a wheel chair. And I also don't think he's able to talk (I'm pretty sure hes only able to talk before his transformation into a god hand because he's in the spiritual realm and we're hearing his thoughts as a reader). So he likely wouldn't directly lead the band of the hawk anymore. He would probably continue to be miserable in his vegetable-like speech impaired state.

Crux of the issue is that Griffith laid with the princess. Knowing full well what would happen to him. People here keep saying Oh well what was he supposed to do stay a cripple? Yes, the asshole used his "comrade's" as tools to achieve his goals. When guts left, he threw a self destructive temper tantrum. Griffith is 100% a sociopath manipulating people to achieve his goals. Literally the band of the hawk was thriving all Griffith had to do was coast for a bit fine ways to change the kingdom from within. Just as the king said you flew too high. In FACT Caska time and time and again showed her feelings to Griffith and merely used that as a means for her loyalty so when he saw guts and her being a couple who loved one another it pissed him off. His solution? Let me steal a carrige following the will of an Evil artifact that opens a portal to hell. Then when the asshole KNOWS his friends are getting eaten alive as he bargains them for wings....... openly stating "I want wings." Like bruh..... What??? He has no redeeming qualities whatsoever He shot himself in the foot then used AN ENTIRE PLATOON OF INNOCENT PEOPLE to undo HIS FUCK UP. Don't even get me started into falconia and how it's all a sham I swear I hate this character so much which is a testament to the writer I guess.

Is very interesting take on the events. I had to agree even though I didnt like Griffith and was horrified by his Eclipse(at same time I cannot blame him for Eclipse bc to be handicapped must be horrible I think I would do the same thing if I ended up in such situation) and I too had a thought that given time period specifics Hawks would still going to be murdered even if it wasnt for Eclipse. And yet again the thing is that even if it wasnt for Eclipse Ganishka would still be a problem and seeing in canon it was Femto who saved Charlotte and managed to defeat Ganishka, if Griffit didnt become Femto then Ganishka would may win

Overall even darker. Regardless of what would happen during this age, the Godhand would just keep doing what they have always done until finally their "chosen one" accepts their fate. If not Griffith now, then it will be another individual years from now. Be it 10 years or more then a 1000 years. Because there is nobody to stop the Godhand, and when the world is in (relative) peace/chaos of human make, nobody will really bother with perusing the Godhand with the same fever and self sacrefice as Skull Knight. So their time to throw the world into chaos will be more of a inevitability, no matter the state of the human world.
@iquaniqua4 жыл бұрын
I think that if Griffith refused the godhand and only the trio were saved Guts wouldn't really want to go after the godhand, when he found out most of the band of the hawk was slaughtered after Griffith's imprisonment he didn't express any desire to take revenge, but only to save Griffith and after saving him he planned to rebuild the band and get by instead of planning revenge. The thing that pushed Guts over the edge was not his friends being slaughtered, but the fact that the person who he respected the most and is the whole reason he even has companions betrayed him. I think the story would either end by them settling down or pause till Ganishka's invasion where they'd have a chance to prove themselves to midland again.
