When Guts met Puck he had about as much empathy as Mad Max (and he also dressed like the Road Warrior) so their conversations played out like Guts’s missing empathy telling him what to do and him ignoring it, mostly. Now Guts has enough empathy to act like a well-rounded person and Puck is useless-dramatically. Puck has been reduced to court jester. I saw the same thing happen with Star Trek. Originally Dr. McCoy would be overly passionate while everyone else was professional. JJ Abrams portrayed everyone as overly passionate and Dr. McCoy was reduced to just telling jokes. He had no dramatic role.

Thanks for the replies, I honestly think Miura is hinting at this with the toll the berserker armor has on him. The story will come full circle if Guts at his potential sacrifices his ability and becomes a cripple after fulfilling his dream, like the complete opposite of Griffith. But unlike Griffith, Guts would let Casca and others take care of him, where Griffith couldn’t stomach a reality where others lookout for him. It would be beautiful circle.

one of my favorite quote is "living well is the best revenge" I think that's what I want for a ending. I would like berserk to end with the undoing of fantasia, and the total removal of the behelit in the world. undoing fantasia could lead to the fall of falconia, or at least I hope it would. crushing griffith's dream for a second time and maybe, just maybe, destroy his physical body and return him back into the void with his fellow god hand. undoing the fantasia would remove the hold the god hand have on the earth, they cannot physically manifest themselves without it. removing the behelit from the world would remove their influence on the world entirely. if this can be achieved Griffith will be humiliated for a second time, see his dream fall a second time, and all he can do is look longingly into midland from the astral world and see guts live his life with casca and he is stuck with his human feeling as an immortal due to demon child who reincarnated with him.

The path of thought starting around 3:45 someplace definitely sounds like my own theories. I have believed for a while “causality” is just an ethereal buzzword the Godhand ego strokes to. The Godhand are the ones manipulating events and they can because they are that powerful, but there really isn’t any actual predestined fate coming from beyond them. I think that’s why Griffith, for all he believed about freedom to be regardless of origin, can still live with himself despite this “causality”. He’s now at the reigns of that same causality. It’s the only way for his dream not to have been pointless.

@@luniasta I have some theories around the eggs sacrifice. what is clear is that the moonlight boy and griffith are the same being, we see this as griffith transforms into him and then out of him at the end of the full moon. Now how they came to be the same being is kind of a theory as it is never flat out said, but when the Egg of the Perfect world ate the fetus of casca, he the sacrificed himself and griffith took his physical form during this sacrifice. It seems that I guess the Eggs transformed into griffith, or at least griffith used his sacrificed body as the vessel of his physical body? And the fetus was also apart of this and thus moonlight boy and griffith share the same physical body.

Trivia fact: Most historians believe that the dark ages was the longest period (a few hundred years) where humanity went with out technological advancement. Also a good portion of events and history during that time period either wasn't recorded or what was recorded was destroyed through various events during the time such as the black plague. I predict this will play a part in the end of the story. Guts and Griffith have always had a seesaw effect when its come to there battles against each other. Originally Griffith was pretty much untouchable to Guts due to his "natural gifts or talent" but later through constant combat and battle Guts was able to surpass and defeat Griffith, after being chosen by the God hand Griffith once again rose to a place out of Guts reach however as the story has continued Guts has once again begun to slowly grow in strength and abilities just like before. My prediction is that Guts through his own stubbornness and effort will once again defeat Griffith. This will break Griffith who views himself as the ultimate being after sacrificing his humanity and he most likely will make another wish on his Behelt, this wish will mostly likely see him sacrifice his kingdom for power, which would include all those who believe, worship or serve him meaning the Apostle will also become his sacrifices this time since they're united under his banner.

Meanwhile, Griffith and its army grow incredibly more powerful, but at the same time, Griffith begins to crumble on the inside. As the child is raised, Griffth begins to experience guilt and emptyness. Incapable of understanding what he is going through, he begins to seem more human, in contrast to his always composed behaviour. This makes the demons question their loyalty to Griffith and a civil war breaks. In order to regain control over Griffith, the God Hand kidnaps the moon child, and Guts and co.. decide to rescue him. This would be an interesting apprach to a new endgame, where Griffith becomes vulnerable and watches as his kingdom destroys itself, Guts and Co. get enough time to mend their wounds and become stronger as well as get more allies, and the God Hand realize that their plans arent perfect making them doubt the power of causality.. What do you guys think??

Watching Berserk was one of the most traumatic yet beautiful experience WHICH however left me uncomfortable with the end. It's probably going to be about Guts refusing to stoop down to Griffith's level when offered the possibility to turn into an apostle. He would normally do anything to reach his objectives, but the lesson he'll learn from his time with the faeries is that revenge isn't worth destroying all that he loves to burn down what he hates. That's my take on it at least. He's not going to be able to stay there for long because what he had is broken forever, he's never going to have his happy ending with Casca, so he'll need to go back to Griffith, but then he'll be faced with the dilemma I described before. Chances are this isn't going to destroy the God Hand, but it's going to be significant nonetheless for the cycle that the God Hand created. Another option is that by showing that he's not willing to play along, he BRINGS the whole system to a collapse. But Griffith isn't just ambivalent just for irony's sake, I suspect. There's also the question of whether or not it's actually meaningful to destroy him.

Very keen insight Boofire, video so good it, made me sub! I've been trying to piece together how Berserk will end myself, and also saw a glaring detail with that Insect Apostle as well... I'm thinking maybe he even affected the behelit somehow as well... maybe if the sacrifice is refused, something else happens to it? There has to be a clue hidden into its design, as in its out of place face, also how it screams or cries in horror the times we have seen it activated, as if it's awakening into a nightmare, meanwhile it looks relatively content while "asleep", or dormant. I do also believe love will play a part, just as how even Griffith moved to protect Casca during Guts and Zodd's fight, surprising even Griffith himself. All of the Godhand is ignorant to human things such as this, thinking themselves above humanity despite it. Love this series.

That could easily be argued to still be within the binds of causality and was always going to happen, no? Causality doesn’t mean “everyone who will gain possession of a behelit is destined to become an apostle”. Berserk cannot end on Guts shedding his humaniy to gain power, it would defeat the very purpose of his character, humanity is Guts' power, is what pushes him forward to do as he does in the face of the cruelest of fates that he has no idea if he can outrun or not. Also, i remember hearing that the story of Berserk is tale told by Void himself, which would imply that he survives the whole ordeal, i could see this playing out like this: Guts standing over Griffith's VERY bloody remains makes the GodHand have a Memento Mori (BRUH) moment where they have their views shattered by the sheer impact of what they just witnessed. Stricken with fear of humanity itself they strike a deal with Guts where they free both him and Casca from the Brand and are set free to live their lives as they see fit and the GodHand will no longer meddle with humans out fear of Berserk 2

If there's anyone that can refuse it it has to be Guts no one else. He's the leaping fish as Miura keeps stating and this is a trait that is constantly made apparent. The reason no one can refuse the godhand deal is because the behelit is only activated in a moment in the persons life where the only answer they can possibly give , given whatever desperate circumstances they are in, is yes. For Guts, having been through every sort of hellish scenario immaginable, it is hard that a "yes" moment will ever come for him.
