You will laugh, cry, contemplate life, all while being confused as hell as you try to piece it all together which you can't until you watch every episode, honestly it's like the developers of Fight Club and Inception created the storyline to this anime, though it's entirely brilliant... As OP said, only bad thing about this anime is that it's only 17 eps, definitely worth watching, in my top 5

one of my favorites anime's ever, alot of people don't understand the plot but you have to pay attention to the dialogue every episode. it's very philosophical too. wish they would make a season 2.

A clear contradiction in this is that there are multiple shots of BoogiePop full on smiling. Where in the original he says the he never saw It smile once, only (questionably) smirks.

I, who have once watched a confusing series, can be able to understand the supposes flow of the plot of "Boogiepop and Others." It really is a wonderful series; it gives me goosebumps on the way how beautiful it is. Tip: The show might show present first then gives the plot of backstory without giving any cues, in general. This does not mean to be a spoiler, but rather may help you comprehend better with the story.

boogiepop is that story that drives you to put a lot of focus on it's dialogues. each arc has a tie to one another, and if you're not focusing enough, you're gonna get lost in it.

I’ve only read the light novel, but the way the novel works is that you get to see the perspectives of different people one by one, and only at the end do you have all the information from start to finish. Although, it does end with the final battle and conclusion, it’s just that essentially you learn about each character involved with the conflict mainly through bystanders. So, in the novel’s first chapter you only meet boogiepop and learn about boogiepop inhabiting a female student’s body from her boyfriend’s perspective, and all he does is meet boogiepop a few times and then boogiepop tells him goodbye when the conflict is over. The boyfriend never learns anything else. It’s kind of expository, but the way it’s done from an outside perspective and through dialogue makes it more interesting.

I finished the original novel from earlier and while there wasn't much art in it the way it was written made the setting sound kind of depressing I also want to add that the novel was written in 1997 They modernized it a lot and messed with the character designs which already fit their characters like a glove which I don't really get. From the book's perspective everything was told from several peoples perspective but this trailer kind of makes it look like one continuously flowing thing not following anyone in particular I'm sure it does though omitting a lot of thoughts Phantom exceeds in the setting and music department, the Manga servers as a better visual representation from the original author and illustrator of the novel. So I guess that leaves this in sort of an awkward spot
