If you cancel, what happens to the points when you transfer them?

Hey, thanks for watching! So when I cancelled the flights I bought with points through the Amex Travel portal, they issued me a cash refund to my account (ex: 45,000 points, $450 refund). And when they do that you have to call them and ask them to convert it back to Membership Rewards Points. I haven’t had to cancel a flight that I transferred points out of Amex, but I’m guessing once you transfer the points out, they will be stuck with that airline if you cancel.

@ you are very welcome, and very true. I'm starting to get back into amex/capital one points. I got frustrated not finding any award availability, or just horrible flights available. So I went to cash back for awhile.
