I'll buy it! After I get more money from chores....and after it actually comes out...ANYWAY! Dear Stampy, You were the first KZbinr I ever watched, when I was about 5 or 6. I'm going into my teenage years soon, and I haven't watched you since after a few...traumatic experiences ended. You and many other KZbinrs were my coping mechanism after a death in my family, and you all inspired me and many of my friends to start KZbin. I decided to come back and watch a few videos, after hearing about the PopularMMOS and GamingWithJen divorce, and a few other things. I just wanted to say that you were one of the first inspirations in my life. I'll never forget KZbinrs like you. ~Sadie Tube

I think this is great. It's rare you get a look into an author's process. Authors are usually solitary folk and until recently, vlogging and such was a challenging and expensive endeavour. I will be tuned in.

I’m definitely going to get your book, as I know it will be funny and really good because your videos are hilarious! I’m glad you aren’t telling us about any of the characters and settings because it makes it more exciting and I can’t wait! Thanks for sharing all of your tips and how you plan it etc. You’ve really inspired me, just from this video, to write a book but I know by tomorrow I’ll hate it and want to start again! Was this series title purposefully meant to be a bit ironic? *Book Diary* when a diary is a book... anyway, I do hope you add a map as it helps me understand where the are etc. and so do pictures, like in Stacy’s where it shows the characters and inside their house to get a feel of what it’s like so you can imagine them there. Once again, thanks for sharing this, even if you think this was boring, it was really interesting and I can’t wait for more. You deserve a cup of tea for all that talking!

Writing a novel takes extreme dedication and patience, and I for one would be afraid to tackle learning a new skill when there are other things I am good at that keep me satisfied. I wonder if you can use this series to recommend books that you have enjoyed? I love that you talk about your own reading experiences, and I hope you inspire more people to read by doing this. Maybe with each new video, share one or two books that you are either reading now or loved when you were growing up? This will also give your excited fans material to read while they (we) are waiting in anticipation for your books to be published!

iluvphillip13 I’d love even one video about this topic; maybe a joint video with Stampy and Sqaishey taking about their nostalgic favorite stories and which authors or books influenced their lives would be easiest to make. started watching your stuff years ago when i was in third or fourth grade and loved them. it was like watching a tv show but i liked your videos more than anything on major networks. you had almost a mr. rogers way of connecting to kids but in a more adapted, modern way. i've recently just started freshman year of highschool and have moved on from a lot of the things i loved when i was younger. i used to watch your videos religiously, and now i don't really at all. but sometimes, i'll look you up and just watch a recent episode or just see how things are going. you've got a talent. a talent that can make an angsty teenager (haha) feel like they're going home for twenty minutes. moving on isn't moving away, and i know that if it ever gets to be too much, this little piece of innocence and wonder is still there. if i'm ever stressed about something, i read the first few chapters of the first harry potter book. same goes for your videos. so thanks for being there, even if you'll never see this :)

Hi Stampy, first off I know that I am very late on commenting. I just wanted to say this now. And also, I know that you get so many comments from people like this, but I need to add my voice. Stampy, you have quite literally been my childhood. I recently watched the Mr. Rogers documentary, and I was struck by how similar you and him are. The biggest thing that I found similar is how much dedication you and him put in your work with children. Especially by how much time and money you have invested into helping children. I remember your Wonder Quest series came out when I was in six grade. In six grade, I had to learn the order of the planets and had much difficulty remembering. I always screwed up the inner planets. Well, I watched Wonder Quest. And, much to my amazement, there you were with the order of the planets. You helped so immensely, I can’t explain how many times you have brought me away from my demons and into your world. When my family was quite literally falling apart, I came to you. When my dog of 11 years died, I came to you for help. And you did. Oh boy did you help. Lately - ok no - always I have struggled with panic attack’s and anxiety attacks and many mental health issues. But you have been there to guide me from when I was 9. Now, I’m in high school and I still come to you for help. And now look at the both of us. One of us is engaged to a wonderful young lady. Another is continuing to make her mark. Both of us have grown older in the time spent on KZbin. To sum this all up, I want to thank you for everything. Thank you for never stopping in doing what you love. Thank you for helping me learn. Just...thank you.

Hi Stampy, I'm glad that your writing a series and even though I'm still not an author it's an aspiration of mine. I write a lot in my spare time and I found a tip that might help. Thanks for the writing update! Queries: will you share the name of the book series that hooked you when you started reading for an hour at night? I understand why you might not share that information in the video; Doesn’t have to be an endorsement. Just curious. Also, you’re writing a juvenile fiction adventure novel, do you enjoy reading any particular author or series in that 8 to 12 age range? You’ve already mentioned how much you enjoyed Stacy’s first book, Wild Rescuers: Guardians of the Taiga, in a previous video. ❤️ Is there any illustrator’s style that you enjoy? I’d love a hint about how you imagine your characters will look. Illustration and maps have always been one of my favorite parts of a book whether they’re drawn by Tolkien or DiTerlizzi or Selznick, to name a few of my favorite authors/illustrators. Please answer any or all questions, as you please. Thank you. I work in a library; I’ve always enjoyed reading all genres of books but never tried to write. Too intimidated. I think it’s admirable that you’ve made a habit of reading every day. Kudos on all that you’ve achieved so far. So much work, but it’s good for your fans to see that anything worth doing is worth a lot of effort. I’m looking forward to hearing about your writing process and someday reading your series and seeing them here on our shelves.

I always loved the maps in the Hobbit series, and also the Narnia series. If I remember correctly, wasn't there also a great map or two in Watership Down? That's another book I need to read again. :) Wonderful comment, waltzingaranel!

iluvphillip13 I ❤️ The Chronicles of Narnia! There is a map in my copy of Watership Downs. It really helps picture the journey. Who goes anywhere on foot nowadays? It’s inspiring to imagine. Goodreads has a list of Fantasy Books with Maps; a quick google search found it.

Afternoon 📚 Great video, and always interesting to hear the thoughts, process, and backstory from another author 😄 Let me give you a tip, piece of advice, call it what you will. Right now, your enthusiasm is through the roof, and rightly so. It’s always exciting to start scribbling,or typing, on the blank page with something new. There will be times when you will stare at the screen for ages, annoyed because it isn’t working as you expect it to. From what I know of you, through your videos etc, you don’t strike me as the type of person who will let the slower moments get to them too much. Don’t be afraid to walk away for a bit. You’ll know when it’s correct, for you and your story, because the words will flow easily. Saying that, though, hard writing makes great reading 😂😂 Yes, inspirational messages for authors, because I know you love them so much 🤣🤣😉

Stampy I'm so excited for you! I have 2 thoughts: (1) Make sure you find a good editor ASAP that will be a huge help to you during your process - don't wait until the whole thing is done. (2) JK Rowling started much the way you are now, hadn't written a book before Harry Potter and had trouble for a while getting a publisher... she was at more disadvantage too because she was completely unknown and began long before the internet. Her struggles may be inspirational and educational for you as you do this. Often the best books are ones that "write themselves" -- don't be too surprised if a character does something you don't expect while you're writing! :)

Stampy, be aware, your book will probably have inspiration from the video games you play, especially story wise, and that’s really good! So be aware of whether your inspiration comes from the books you read, real life, or games, and it’ll be cool when you read the final copy and see where the inspiration came from!!
