When was this? I mean I know my parents were lower class but about 10yrs ago 10 dollars here would barely get you a hook it was like a 5 dollars alone for a light up pen! I always would get like a scented eraser. I remember this detective book set I wanted so bad it was like finger print dust with it and other things and I vaguely remember getting it that or I remember dreaming about playing it😂 brain injury kinda messed that up for me sometimes. But man I wish it was that cheap where I was then

I know right I remember going with $10-15 and getting a ton.. posters pencils and a few books.. makes me feel bad for the kids who can’t afford it.. my kids school started a thing this year where each kid gets $10 and I was so happy to hear that. It really didn’t get them much but it’s something.. two of my kids had already spent it before I even knew the book fair was there haha. So I had to send em all with more cause I wanted to make sure they got actual books too haha

@@doggytheanarchist7876 very true. I was lucky to have attended elementary school over 10 years ago, when conservatives at least we're performatively against book burning. It wasn't great then either, but not nearly as bad as it is now. Children are losing a vital resource, sadly.

I remember way back in the day, my mom would give me $5 for the book fair and it was the most stressful thing ever for me. What a beautiful mummy/son relationship. You're a great mother ❤ you can tell he feels completely safe to speak his mind around you and that is so so important to our little humans. Our parents told us for 18 years that we shouldn't use our voice, to be seen and not heard, inadvertantly telling us our voices don't matter. Then spend the rest of their lives complaining that we are weak and don't know how to use our voices. That we need to be more assertive. Like B****.... How can I do that?! you taught me the literal opposite my entire childhood!! Please! (went off on a tangent there😂)

As someone who was pushed along in school, saying oh she’s lazy even though my mom who’s an English teacher was like no she has struggles I work with her on it and not being diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia times 21 having a teacher that actually cared when I was in grade 11 and helped me to get boosted from agreed to reading level two grade 8 reading level in a matter of a year was huge. As an adult who graduated years ago I now read an adult reading level looking back. My mom tried to help me. It’s just she was my mom and I knew how to manipulate around her efforts and since then I’ve apologized and she’s forgiving me and we’re good now, but I am so grateful for that teacher in grade 11 because she knew how to get me to do what I need to do to boost my level. and I can see that you are the same type of teacher and type of mom who does the same keep up the good work keep being the amazing human being. You are.❤

I used to buy books plus all the Lil knacks also- as a kid I thought it was cool to order whatever I wanted & the excitement of waiting for them when they come in & the final excitement to see what almost everyone else got. I was that kid who if a couple of kids who's parents didn't order for whatever reason- I would find something out of my order to give to them. Guess that humble giving came young for me as well. I told them I’ll take them to our used book store where most of what they want is half to 1/4 the price of new books. Reading shouldn’t be so expensive. Aww how sweet. Our kids school well it started with a class last year one parent donated $12 for each kid in that grade and this year they raise $10 for every kid in the school. I gave em each $20 and yikesss they’re asking for more haha.. books are one thing I can’t say no too lol.. I loved to read as a kid, it’s sad how high the prices have gotten because I know not every kid can get something so I am glad my kids school started the $10 thing

I am impressed that he reads...so many kids just spend so much of their time playing video games all day and night and don't go outside or anything
