Great haul Baron! Ohhh the Killing Moon. That’s on my list. Brom is also on my list. I recently found the Child Thief for a good price. I’ve never read Ken Follett, but I’ve heard that Pillars of the Earth is great. I’m wanting to read the Hannibal books too. My kids and I have been watching the show, and it’s brilliant. That Tolkien book looks fantastic!

I think I am going to read Grace of Kings in January. The more I hear about it, the more I want to read it. Ted Chiang is a top 5 author for me. The stories in Exhaltation are phenomenal. I can firmly say that reading his stories has changed the way I read fiction.

@@YourBrainonBooks there’s always time to catch up! We’re reading them very slowly. And actually this week, on the schedule, we’re taking a break, so that would be a perfect time to do some catching up. No pressure though of course. Or you could always just start next week with SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK, and then retroactively read the rest later. Honestly, I’m just excited to hear your opinions on them 🤣

Hey, brother... hope all is well! Got a trilogy recommendation that I think you’ll really dig. The first is called ‘The Lovecraft Code’ by Peter Lavenda. He is primarily a Non-Fiction Occult author who is heavily into Lovecraft’s legacy and fuses that into a real world narrative. This brief description hardly does the body of work justice, but, if you do a quick search, I think your interest will be piqued. The other two are ‘Dunwich’ and ‘Starry Eyes’. 🖖

@@YourBrainonBooks I’ve honestly NEVER been on Discord, but, have found myself curious about it a few times. Tonight, when I get home from work, I think I’ll check it out and drop a line over there. I don’t really have anyone to talk books with and that’d be a great thing. My apologies for not getting back to you until now. I just started working another job, so, I haven’t had a ton of time to myself lately. Hope all is well on your side, dude! Talk soon.

No worries at all, I hope the new job is going well :) The discords are low key the backbone of booktube in a way. Mine is quite small like the channel. But I am in about ten others (most channels have their own). You’ll start to see a lot of the same faces in most of them and there are always group reads to join. Lots of fun!

Great haul Baron! I need to give NK Jemisin a try soon as well, think I'm going to start with the Broken Earth trilogy. Her covers are always beautiful indeed. I'm almost done with the Grace of Kings and it's definitely a dense book. I'm loving it but there's a lot going on so even though it's only 600 pages, it FEELS longer. 😄

This has been a phenomenal book haul, with some of my favorites! Boy's Life is an excellent starting point for McCammon, I love that and Swan Song equally. I hope it makes you a fan. I haven't read Straub yet either, though I tried Koko a few years ago, and put it down. I'll give it another shot some day. But I have Ghost Story, and even though I meant to read it this past October, I still plan on getting to it in the near future.

@@YourBrainonBooks One more question. What is the most common/ standard width and length if I'm looking to buy some? Just curious what you use most for, say, the King books and Wheel of Time, etc.
@YourBrainonBooks2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I really appreciate that :) As far as size for standard 9.5in hardcovers I like the ones that are 12inches wide. Then for length, usually anything 20-24in is ok depending on how chunky the books are. For WOT I’d go 24 and cut them shorter as needed. Expect to screw some up as you learn to put them on. So order extra. Hope that helps!
