I really enjoyed The Last Murder at the End of the World and The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels. I wanted to read Madam but, like you, I saw the low ratings on Goodreads and I decided not to read it. So interested to hear your thoughts on it. I didn't like Study for Obedience. It just wasn't my cup of tea. And I DNF'ed Everyone in My Family has Killed Someone. It just got a bit too silly for me. Really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on all of these, Alice ☺

The #1 Ladies' Detective Agency series is lovely! I don't actually classify it as a cozy mystery -- Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi don't really solve crimes (although they do a bit) so much as solve people's problems. The books are charming and sweet, and definitely a love letter to Botswana. The Dead Zone is one of my favorite SK's books! I'll be interested to hear what you think about it. I'm currently finishing up the new Booker winner, Prophet Song by Paul Lynch. After that, I have two of the newest Antoine Laurain's books. He's an interesting French writer who just keeps putting out quality stories. I've been a fan of his for a long, long time. I'm also excited to read Madam. I'm such a ridiculous sucker for boarding school stories -- particularly ones set anywhere on the coast. Sounds divine!

Wonderful haul! The first four books especially are beautiful. I really want to read something by Stuart Turton soon. I loved the Benjamin Stevenson books. His second one was recently released and is also good, but the first one, the one you have now, was my favorite. Portrait of an unknown lady sounds very interesting to me. Have a good week💕

My birthday just pasted and I received The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon, The No-No Boy by John Okada, Novel Destinations (second edition), Gilmore Girls: At Home in Stars Hollow by Micol Ostowand Illustrated by Cecilia Messina, Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, Fools Errand by Robin Hobb (these ones were more about wanting a regular size paperback instead of a mass market). I also bought a bind-up of books one and two of the Rosales saga by F. Sionil Jose, and America is in the Heart by Carlos Bulson. I just ordered The Letters of JRR Tolkien. It cost so much more at the store, so I decided to order off of Amazon.

Oh you're going to have a good time with Everyone in my family 😄 Thornhedge is a twist on Sleeping beauty, very atmospheric and interesting. I loved Nettle and Bone, not Swordheart (the first half is good though), and waiting for my copy of What moves the dead. What's the second Kingfisher your read and recommend besides Nettle and Bone?

The other one by Kingfisher is A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking! Lots of fun (although it's middle grade) 😄

A friend just gave me a book I thought you may be interested in. I read first page and was hooked it’s called Chase Darkness With Me by Billy Jensen. It’s how one true crime writer started solving murders. It’s a non fiction which for me it takes a very interesting one for me to read it. Haha this one so far os good! Anyway figure I would share. I am also reading Buried in a Good book by Tamara Berry. It’s a cozy mystery and I’m enjoying it. I’m also reading Where Sleeping girls lie by Faridah and The Folcroft ghosts by Darcy Coates. Have you read any of these? I plan on reading All The Forgiveness by Elizabeth Hardinger The Family Plot by Megan Collins, Daughters of the Lake by Wendy Webb. I highly recommend Moving is murder by Nellie Steele it was so fun it’s a cozy murder mystery.

Hi Alice, GREAT finds!! Thanks for sharing I wrote many down. I have had Weyward on my "to buy" list for a long time, WILL BUY now. I also enjoy memoirs and will look up the Salt Path. Not sure when because my last sister is being treated for a very aggressive cancer in Boston right now. I don't think now would be a good time to read it. I will try to remind you in August about Until August. I feel the same way about those titles, HA! Hopefully I can read it the; borrowing from my library. I can't be trusted ANYWHERE near anything that has the word, advertisements "BOOK" either. I really need to borrow more from library.😇 Many friends recommended The No.1 Ladies series to me, starting yrs. ago. I read the first one but didn't care for it. That was a long time ago, maybe will try again. Now Alice ( 😅😘 ), you are beautiful and an extremely interesting person (saw your video about yourself) so do not count yourself out of marriage! Too many young women marry someone because they think marriage will pass them by. Then they marry the wrong guy. I know of 3. Very sad. They SETTLED, stunted themselves accepted a life they weren't planning. Basically gave up themselves. Then, they feel trapped because children are there, they have to fake their life. So sad. No one knows when the right person will come along. Whose to say what the "perfect" " just right age" is.????? You are TOO SPECIAL a person to sell yourself short or settle. 🤗🤗
@TheBookCastle4 ай бұрын
Wishing your sister all the best ❤️ and thank you! Don’t worry, I have no intention of settling - I’d rather be happy as a single pringle than unhappy with anyone. Luckily I feel very little pressure to marry or do anything I don’t want to, to be honest 😃 Life is good either way!

Turton's new novel was soo good. My fave is still The Seven Deaths, but this one edged out The Devil and the Dark Water (which I also really liked). And I bought the second Stevenson book, not knowing that it was a series 😅 It just sounded really fun, murder on a train with a bunch of crime writers. I was working at Norli when Øya was at its most popular, so I had to read it then. I liked it, but I doubt I would today, my reading taste is not the same as when I was in my early twenties. I also read The Return (I think it was called), by the same author, and that one I hated back then as well.

Oooh cool! I wonder what I’ll make of Øya now, I feel like it could go both ways 😅
