⚠️PSA: If you’re ready Foul Lady Fortune (FLF), PLEASE read These Violent Delights (TVD) Duology first. Technically speaking, you can read FLF on its own but it’s SO much better and richer experiencing the books having read TVD first because it’s set in the same world (Romeo and Juliet retelling set in 1927). The main character of FLF is the cousin to the main female character in TVD, so she’s involved in those books, which is one of the ways the two series are connected. They’re also good audiobooks!

I recently discovered a book series called The House Witch series, and I absolutely looved it! It's cozy fantasy, with witches and good food (the mc is a cook), a historical fantasy setting, cheeky quirky characters, political intrigue, a will-they-won't-they romance, and a familiar that is a BOSS (not to spoil anything, but the familiar is in charge of the whole kingdom, don't tell anyone).

My local library was having a book fair last weekend and got 5 books for myself and 4 books for my kids. I got Keeper of the Lost Cities #2 Exile, Wings of Fire #1, The Raven Boys & The Dream Thieves, and The Selection #1. When Amazon was having their Prime day sale I got the whole series Songs of Choas (Ascendant, Unbound, & Defiant) for only $3 on my Kindle and also grabbed Half A Soul. You will need a new bookcase!! I have Curious Tides from the library so looking forward to reading that. Interestingly the first dark academia book I really liked is one I read last week-The Cloisters-although some things/characters were slightly repulsive it kept me turning the pages all the way to the very good twists in the last few pages. Highly recommend.

I've been trying not buying too many books recently since my aunt and I went to a book market at the beginning of last month and picked up loads of books but exitingly enough I've been getting a few books from my university library recently which has been lovely. Okay, Circe is one of my FAVORITES for this year and maybe ever!! I hope you love it too!! I also have 3 Olivie books and hadn't read them lol but just started One for My Enemy yesterday, so I'm tryna rectify that. I currently have Godkiller checked out from the library, so also reading soon! AND I have been buying WAYYY too many books lately. I just got The Hurricane Wars and Throne of the Fallen bc they are sooooo pretty! I started The Hurricane Wars yesterday too, and I'm totally loving it so far!!

Do not worry, we all love book hauls! :D I read Half a Soul this month and I loved is to much, it's like Pride and Prejudice meets magic and I did not know how much I needed that in my life. Ten Thousand Stitches I have on my shelf too but same as you, I fear it won't be that good. And I just finished A Study in Drowning, I have beautiful illumicrate edition, and it was quite nice dark academia read.

PLS the special editions for Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares look so STUNNING holy shit. I loooove the quote on the spine of Strange the Dreamer, I even have that one written in my Notion page for all my book ish stuff 🥺 I recently received the collector's edition of AGGGTM in the mail that I had preordered from Waterstones and UGH the joy this book has brought me since is ridiculous 😂

I love the idea of buying a book for a friend and them for you. My best friend and I did it (with a few additional rules) and I ended up with 56 Days (which I would not have picked up when we were doing this) - she knew I would end up in thrillers before I did. Other than that, I had someone buy me Grimm's Puppets by Tom Prater, which 100% made me realise I actually enjoy reading psychological thrillers.

I have just finished the Lovelight Farms books by B.K Borison. They were really sweet but I’m ready to get back to my fantasy stories. Starting with Once Upon A Broken Heart. I’m planning to read the first 2 and that should take me up to the release of the third. I hate reading unfinished series and having to wait, but I am so excited to read these books!!!

The Illumicrate edition of Strange the Dreamer is stunning😍. I just preordered the Barnes & Noble exclusive edition of Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries and it’s literally just the U.K. cover but in this pastel blue color and I’m so excited for it! I also preordered the Waterstones and B&N exclusive editions of A Curse for True Love!

Ah, Strange The Dreamer editions are so good. Wish I could get my hands on those. I however recently acquired these paperback editions of The Mortal Instruments which are all different colors and have runes printed on them. They are so much prettier and I'm only keeping them for the aesthetics. They are stiff as hell to read 😂

I really need to actually read some of the books I’ve acquired this year before continuing to buy more, but hey, buying books and reading books are two separate hobbies aren’t they? 😹😹 In the last month I’ve picked up a few new books - Hallow’een Party by Agatha Christie (one of the October picks for the Read Christie Challenge 2023), Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus, the graphic novel of Murder on the Orient Express (read Christie challenge again), Swordcatcher by Cassandra Clare (Blatantly Bookish Bethany gave a good review for it, so thought I might give it a try), and for Victober, I got the physical copies of Vol 1&2 of a Penny Dreadful called Varney the Vampire! And yes, I read lots of different things, I’ll generally try anything except horror and true crime…
