Hoodhboy is a classic "secular" Muslim. No, we are not descended from Arabs. The problem with so-called secular Muslims is that they will still deny their cultural heritage. Changing one's mode of worship is no big deal. Hindus do it all the time. From a Vaishnavite to a Shaivite to an Arya Samaji to a Nanak Panthi to a Namdhari, and even to an atheist. But that doesn't mean that we deny our inheritance, which begins with Mohenjedaro and includes within it the Vedas, Puaranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and all the way on to the Ram Charita Manas. But once someone converts to Islam, they seem to think that their cultural and civilizational forbears were the Arabs. Have you ever heard Hoodbhoy talk about how "we" Muslims lost all "our" intellectual advancements made during "our" Golden Period, from the 8th to the 14th century?!
