In this day of all things auto-tuned and pre-tracked, it is refreshing to hear live vocals that may not be perfectly on pitch. It lets me know that I'm hearing a live performance and not just someone lip syncing to the track.

Saw them at the Fillmore in the Spring of ‘89, with my sister as part of her up coming HS graduation gift. Her other concert gift was seeing The Cure at Shoreline that September. The first concert I had taken her to was The Smiths at the Greek Theatre in ‘86. She told me she loved when I’d tell her, “I bought you tix for ‘whatever band’, it’s on ‘such n such night.” She kept all the ticket stubs of the gigs we went to. Music truly was a family affair. So happy to have been born in ‘69. Music is my SSRI. 😉

We saw them around that time as well, in NYC, can’t remember the venue’s name atm, think it was mid or uptown. Incred show.

Probably one of the most underrated bands from the 80s and probably underated in general. However they were way beyond the limelight in terms of lyrics, story lines and the beats are just pure and simple. Magical and Smooth

Italian-Americans from Philadelphia can't do synth pop. Untrue. Nova Heart by the Spoons is also great if you want to check out Canadian stuff.

Whoa getting massive Masterboy - Colors (Show me Colors) allusion at 3:00 to 4:00 on for a bit.. obviously not the same but I am curious if colours was inspired by Book of Love imo Show me colors is a better track than this version ... odd that Master boy also contains the name of the title curious if it is linked or just coincidence, the melody vaguely alludes to Show me Colors. Not sure why it feels like a second generation offspring of Book of Love Boy kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKW5m2B9ftKjkJo

So they play tapes at a live show?
@spunk69monkey5 ай бұрын
At this point in history, midi tracking and triggers were standard. They had several sounds and effects that were called through the tracking. There were no tapes. In contrast to today where bands can barely perform without a click track in their ears and computers which control the entire show, including being sources for music and vocal tracking, in addition to all effects, automation, video, et cetera. True, it's still triggered, but at least back then the band was still a band and not so much puppets.

Lauren's brother Fr Marc was my instructor for two the four years in high school. He always spoke of her and the band. He was who introduced me.
