Hi, While I don't tend to read much from the young adult genre, I would recommend reading Ripe by Sarah Rose Etter (very sad literary fiction) or A Patch of Blue by Elizabeth Kata in the same vein as "young adult". Both are not centered around romance and feature a young adult main character. You also can never go wrong with the Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.
