Thank you for doing the research on this! I voted for Weyward, The River We Remember and Shark Heart.

Yes, in the app it shows the percentage of respondents on their ranking of the books.

You said it exactly….BOTM is going to do what they want to do. Our vote won’t even count as the winners will be exactly who they want them to be. And they will have a variety of genre.

Exactly! The more I think about it the fact that the voting window is only three days further proves this

This is great! I voted for Lady Tan’s circle of women (my #1 book of the 65 i read in 2023) , Maame, and the Wishing Game - although upon further reflection - i should have listed As Long as the Lemon Tree Grows in place of the Wishing Game because it was a beautifully written novel that i couldnt stop thinking about. (When i voted in the app it had a big SOLD OUT sticker on the cover and i somehow missed seeing it)

These nominations reminded me that I want to read As Long as the Lemon Tree Grows since I've heard so many positive reviews

I figured they were going to include some 2022 books because previous years, they will include the latter half of the year in the next year. So for me, that made sense. Why they included Love on the Brain when she already was a finalist last year is weird though. This is my first time voting and I didn’t know it wasn’t normal to vote for only three. I haven’t read any of mine but my sister read Adelaide and really liked it so I picked that one and I just picked ones that were good for the rest like Happiness Falls and Weyward.

I am interested in reading Adelaide!

What Lies in the Woods has 38k reviews and All the Dangerous Things has 35k. That could indicate that more people got What Lies in the Woods which I can see being something that they factor in.

On the BOTM app right? Good point that it could be a combo of # of reviews on the app plus % of members who loved and liked it

You wouldn't have this data but I honestly wonder if one of the factors is how many copies of a book they have in a warehouse and therefore wouldn't mind giving away 😅

While watching your first video, I had a theory that BOTM simply selects books with the most 'Love' votes from their website! After starting this video, I paused it, began comparing the books, but the theory really fell apart! Where's the logic? Where's the sense? 😄
