No one should ever pressure themselves to do things that are supposed to be FUN. If you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it. It's fine. I set a Goodreads "goal" (intention, whatever) to read 5 books a week in 2024 ( 260 books). I am not even close 😆 and that is fine. Reading is still my favorite hobby, but I haven't prioritized it as much as I intended. I also spend a lot of time doing puzzles (crosswords, sudoku, logic, word games, etc.) and listening to music. Nice discussion.

Some good books on here! Have you heard of My Darling Dreadful Thing? It came out this year and is a Gothic Horror book featuring a sapphic romance. For some reason I think you’d might like it.

I got The Lost Story and for add-ons A Million Junes and Volume 0, Issue 2. My box shipped on the 3rd (I ordered it on the 1st), but it's saying it won't arrive until well into next week. I suspect the mail holiday on the 4th delayed all shipping at the beginning of the month, so who knows when you would've gotten your box. Although some reviews made me hold off on picking up The Wishing Game, The Lost Story is right up my alley with the portal fantasy, so I'm excited to read it.

Bummer You seemed so excited about many of the choices. I'm going to pick "god of the woods" I tend to have about 3-4 books going at a time (including just starting the ACOTAR series) so if the book doesn't ship right away I have fall backs. I'm also going to add the 2nd short stories release as an add on. I agree "she started it" was a DNF for me, and left a sour taste in my mouth for reading for a while there.

If it wasn't for Sarah Pekkanen (auto-buy for me) i would have skipped for July. I feel the add ons are much better than the main picks lately, which has been disappointing. I agree with you about having the feeling of not waiting for a book to be shipped later when you can get it now. Not sure how i feel about the "rebrand" yet. You gave us a lot to think about in this video. 👍 I almost forgot that my add on was Send For Me (historical literary fiction).👋

I ordered early… I think it was before 7am CT. I got both God of the Woods and All the Colors and my box shipped out yesterday afternoon. It’s the first month I haven’t had delayed shipping in quite a while though so I was due. 😂

I picked The Gods of the Woods too - the late shipping notice wasn't under the book but my books are shipping late per an email I received. I also picked House of Glass - I hope I liked it okay. I know their books are mid but I get them confused with Sarah Pinborough who wrote Behind Her Eyes. My mistake. I get not waiting for the long shipping time for the books you want but the prices are much better with BOTM and I like reading physical books so The God of the Woods and All The Colors of the Dark (which I want to read) will probably have long wait lists at the library. All The Colors of the Dark was $30 when I saw it at the bookstore this past weekend.

I chose God of the Woods. They must have run short or had multiple shipments because mine has shipped. I ordered it early this morning. I was tempted by A Thousand Times Before so will probably read at some time.

Hi. The book was okay; but there were some unanswered questions: like what was the role of the "knife?" How did Clara committ suicide? Ian I know overdosed because of Clara's suicide. The knife I thought belonged to oliver; I thought Oliver stabbed Mr. Kate's in the back which caused the van to swerve off the road and plunge into the ravine. All along it was Cassidy who caused the van to plunge into the ravine; & then the 2nd van followed. There were too many holes in this story that needed to be filled with the truth.😢 not one of my favorites. The short stories of Sherlock Holmes seem more rewarding and all points solved: and sherlock holmes which is hard to read makes this book the only survivors look sick. I like mystery books, but I do not think holmes could solve this books mystery unless it was written by Arthur Conan Doyle the books Author of the sherlock holmes short stories. Megan is a terrible mystery writer that leaves too many unanswered questions. Emilio

I got The Lion Women of Tehran to try out historical fiction, also cause I like Life of Pie, The Hundred-foot Journey, and The Lion movies. For my add ons I got Riley Sagar's Final Girls and Survive The Night. Those two mostly cause his first four are in the horror genre and the latest 3 are considered thrillers. I want to read as many genres as possible.
