Great breakdown of printing options-this will definitely help self-publishers choose the best fit for their projects!

Great overview! I can now see the reasons for using different printers for different reasons.

This direct comparison is extremely helpful. I can see how choosing a printer depending on one’s needs is a great strategy. It is also nice to think about how different printers can meet differing needs.

This is perfect. I'm with KDP but I'd like to switch once I get my own ISBNs. Thank you, Julie!

Excellent summary. And I have used 2 of the 4 myself, and now I have more options. BTW I also have used a local mom and pop here for a real fast turnaround. I am anxious to check out Print Nation. Much appreciated.

You'll love them - I'm at Author Nation and some of our authors order Print Nation books for the event on Friday and were just in love with how they look and feel.

can you give a more in depth comparison of bookvault vs print nation? I am struggling to find a good comparison between them, mostly just them compared to other self publish options. It sounds like Bookvault also offers high quality books, and the possibility of selling direct sounds really nice because I don't want to have to deal with that mess. On the other hand, for the book I have in mind if there is a difference in quality if that difference is enough then maybe I'd be will to sacrifice that convenience for the quality. Also, it would be nice to know how to distribute higher quality books to bookstores and things (as in: there is no way I'm sending this to Ingram which is the only way you seem to recommend doing it.) Thanks!

Any idea for POD’s that produces board books?

Sorry - I definitely haven't done that! Check with April Cox or Dale Roberts!

Thank you, Julie! If I were to publish a book and then say publish a workbook to go with that book, do you recommend getting spiral binding for the workbook while leaving the main book case bound? :-)
@BookLaunchers18 күн бұрын
Me, personally, I prefer the spiral bound for a workbook BUT it doesn't work to print it on print on demand so you run into that challenge on fulfillment. Some of our clients opt to sell the workbook direct from their website and fulfill through companies that will print in spiral like a Book Vault. Or they will self-fulfill if the volume isn't high enough.

How do you have more than one printer? I have a picture book I would like printed as a hard cover book. Can I upload my manuscript//illustrations to more than one platform? Will I need a different ISBN for each? Do I need a web site? I am so new at this and my head is spinning!!
@BookLaunchers9 күн бұрын
Every format needs a different ISBN but then you can upload that book to multiple places. You should have a website too. Have you read my book Self-Publish and Succeed? It will help with some of these things although we focus on non-fiction books.
