Norm's Book Signing at the Maui Sugar Mill was a huge success! All the money we made that night went to the help LA's homeless, The Midnight Mission! Thank you to all the people that came, and a big thank you to Joe Bonamassa, Richie Sambora, Orianthi, Bob Rock, Jimmy Angel & the Jason Gutierrez Trio! This book signing and LIVE JAM was so amazing, everybody had a great time!

That thing Joe does at the 9:45ish mark is insanely cool, never seen that done before. Slight bends for each note, awesome.

I used to be a huge Richie Sambora fan but since he has aged an can't keep away from the bottle I look at him as a messy a player. 90s was his prime playing in my book

Sambora has the old school approach and I love it. Dirty and raw, while Joe killed the clean licks as always! Great show. I enjoyed Orianthi as well but you can tell she felt crowded, still nailed it though. Great job everybody!

Joe is incredible and has written a ton of great songs and guitar riffs. Sambora has too, with and without Bon Jovi. Ori is known for playing cover songs but she has gotten a LOT better since she's been with Sambora. She just needs to learn to turn down a bit when somebody else is soloing,

Oh you bet I do, Scooter Lee!! I was there - as close as I could possibly get without actually getting on the stage - and I haven’t stopped talking about it since they stopped playing! It was an amazing show from the time Norm kicked it off until the last note died!! And that was AFTER my friend and I went by Norm’s store just to snap a couple of photos, since we knew it was closed - and were lucky enough to run into the man himself, carrying a load of books to his car. He had to be busier than a one-armed paper-hanger, but that didn’t stop him from dropping everything to spend an hour or so visiting with a couple of fans who had come from the East Coast to meet him, to see his store, and to catch their guitar hero "and friends" - in a bar! Item #1 at the very top of my bucket list - DONE! Norman Harris is quite possibly one of the most gracious men I’ve ever met. He gives new meaning to the word “gentleman” - and, trust me, when it comes from a steel magnolia, that’s high praise indeed! :D Haters are gonna hate; but I’ve got no time for them. If any of the guys who posted these negative comments were there Sunday, all I can say is they didn’t see the same show I did. What I saw were musicians, some more famous than others perhaps, who all shared mutual respect for each other, love and passion for the music, and a desire to give hope to people whose circumstances, at the moment, are less fortunate than their own! If people have some need to bitch about that, let 'em. I didn’t see anyone who tried to ‘outplay’ or ‘play over’ anyone else. Quite frankly, it looked to me like they were all too busy having a rockin' good time to waste their energy on such nonsense! It was an absolute joy to see the appreciation that crossed their faces as they watched - and played along, maybe - while someone else, with a different style or skillset, took the lead at various times. I spent a freakin’ fortune to get to LA for this show. And thanks to “Delta's Blues” I wasted more hours standing in lines, sitting on planes (or at boarding gates) and running through LAX and ATL than I ever hope to see again in this lifetime. But Norm, if you’re reading, this Carolina girl STILL wouldn’t take back a single penny, a single step, or a single minute in exchange for one second of the time I spent in your store or at MSMS. To answer your question one more time: It was SO worth it!! Thank you! And please convey my gratitude to your staff, the MSMS, Richie, Joe, Ori, Jerry, Kenny, Sal, Jason, Nick, Joel, Frank, Jen - and anyone else I may have forgotten - for the experience of a lifetime! You all ROCKED MY WORLD!!

Norm, beautiful work and what great friends you have; not everybody can just ask those guys to show up for free. Homelessness is really sad; well done, Sir. By the way, here is an idea: you could partner with a manufacturer to donate amps and guitars to the poor. As you know, Hendrix was discovered playing at a little coffee shop in NYC, and he was broke and roaming around like Johnny B Goode. :) Who knows... look at BB King and Buddy Guy and where they came from as well. And those are just 3 out of many amazing blues players from a humble background. Imagine if you get one out of midnight mission. You never know. I bet you those guys or others may be willing to become a mentor for a good cause. Cheers

When Joe plays lead, he has something to say, he phrases his solo like he telling a story. Sambora on the other hand is like showing off 80s guitar licks, the kind of licks you hear every weekend at every Guitar Center. Would someone please unplug Sambora's guitar?
@rodney5927
@rodney5927 8 жыл бұрын
That's because he wrote all those 80's licks dumb ass and every one buying a guitar was inspired by those 80's licks enough to play them in the showroom store to determine weather or not they are going to buy that guitar or not. So you paid Richie a very grand compliment by your guitar center story dumb ass.
@gmlasam
@gmlasam 8 жыл бұрын
Bwahhahhahahha…..what licks did Sambora write in the 80s? Ritchie Sambora can't write a lick if his life depended on it, what guitar lick clearly associate Ritchie like Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads, Gary Moore, BB King, Jimi Hendrix and Joe Bonamassa? If you think Sambora wrote all those 80s licks then you are truly the DUMB ASS. Let me guess you are a Millennial that still lives in his parent's basement and does social media all day and no real job? Stop being a fan boy DUMB ASS!

+gmlasam Your lick master list ? R.S. is the only guy on that list that can go back and play stadiums if he wanted to. He does care about the lick that why he has a 100 million record sales. Total Legend Playing blues and soon try duet . The guy is living many full lives. So what if he had a shot night .He flew in with Bob and Ori woke up after this and did Ophra .He"s lived more in 3 days than you have your whole life and its funny your the only guy that measure art by licks !! Do you live in the valley ?
@gmlasam
@gmlasam 8 жыл бұрын
Wow!!! You even know Ritchie Sambora's daily schedule from the time he wakes up, his flight details and who he is with. Do also know when he takes a dump?. Do you plan his life itinerary??? Man, you are really his Number One fan boy aren't you or are you his STALKER? Let me guess, you subscribe to multiple Ritchie Sambora youtube channels and such? Yea, you stated, "Ritchie lived more in 3 days than you have your whole life." Yes, this comment coming from a Stalker who does nothing else but do google searches on Ritchie Sambora… Get a life and get out of your parent's basement..

The difference in terms of technical skill,phrasing,tone and overall musicianship between Joe Bonamassa and these 2 posers is so big,it's not even funny anymore.What is funny though,are Sambora's antics,when he tries to act all ''frontman''.

Haha. No he wasn't. Bonamassa is a perfectionist and wouldn't put up with that. I'm a guitarist and used to play bass. An out of tune bass player ruins the sound of the band. Bonamassa would tell him to get in tune or get out.

My critique is as follows: Bonamassa is strictly a copy boy, not an artist, very shrewd Italian, using everything he can to his advantage, even his last name. Making himself look like a nerd, when he is a complete copy boy, usurping fish, who does not fool me for a second. With guitars that virtually play themselves and sound like sopranos when you barely touch them, who could lose? The others are also beyond completely pathetic. Please no replies. When I hear the original level come up to a Jeff Beck, Mike Bloomfield, or Chet Atkins level, I may change my opinion. I thank you in advance for not answering to this. Please no replies.
