Orianthi is so damn beautiful........ and if you just listen to her speak.......her voice will melt your heart. And she is massively talented even though she is relegated to 3rd spot. She deserves MORE recognition!
@izaklitwar15093 жыл бұрын
She plays so effortlesly! Never had JB as my favourite guitarist and Richie tries toohard to play blues. Jb's style of playing is slick and polished but Orianthi is different. She's incredibly talented and plays blues like an old black blues player.

whats sad is that is what sambora was always known for. If he could get on stage without a beer and without orianthi he might be ok. when i think of sambora i dont think of these turdy jams i think of lovely bits of guitar playing on these days album. joe is class. sambora and ori arent a good mix. she is never subtle with her playing and doesnt change her tone. her voice is equally samey. richie still has a bit of soul left in his however.

I grew up listening to the old Bon Jovi records. Sambora was just great. I think he was okay in this.. playing was a little off at points but it was acceptable for a jam. Bonamassa always seems to be on form no matter where he stands.
@TheDeadman4194 жыл бұрын
maybe I'm wrong but I think Richie might be a tad out of touch with the whole blues-jamming-in-a-bar scene. He's probably so used to only playing these big shows as the star or as the main guitarist of Bon Jovi over the decades, that he's just always in that mindset. Orianthi too but she usually plays a different genre than blues so I don't blame her for being a bit out of her element. Joe on the other hand knows how to take it easy and just groove with the music, and he waits his turn to solo or trade a lick. When he's not playing lead, he's being real subtle so as not to overshadow the others. Richie, on the other hand, acts like he's playing lead even when someone else is soloing.

Whilst I have only seen Joe live, 3 times ( every time he's come to Perth, Australia) I have to say he smoked Ori and Ritchie. Chalk and cheese. I'm guessing Joe is a lot more hands on, where as Ritchie has spent his whole career with minions doing his stage work. I've been to many pubs and listened to blues, so for what it is, it would've been a dream gig. Tight drummer and bass player might I add. In 2 weeks I'm coming to America on a family holiday and I'll be ticking off a bucket list item of visiting Norm's store. Hopefully get to meet the Italian stallion in Mark Agnesi. I keep having dreams of Joe just happening to be there. I doubt it, but that's what dreams are all about. Love to meet Norm and Nick as well.

I have to agree that Mr. Sambora was not having a great improv day, although I do think his first solo on Pride and Joy was brief and tasty. You have to understand a classic hard rocker in a blues environment; they fall back on heavier riffs than are called for. Mr. Bonamassa is just plain excellent as he has been for some time now; a few years ago I (wrongly) dismissed him as a technician with no soul, but I have to admit he's proved me to be totally wrong, and kudos to him. Finally, I've got to disagree with the naysayers about Orianthi, who I think is both very good and underrated, and I suspect too many of you want to dismiss her because she isn't a man. Really listen to what she's playing on "Going Down" and tell me she's not both rockin' and bluesy. Thanks to Linda for bringing this to us.

Thom Drewke Agreed...she, like many classically trained guitarist have no shortage of trick licks transitioning from scale to scale and in between. If anything, she seems slightly bored.. but there is no denying, Joe is the fuckin man.

@tdrewke6 жыл бұрын
I just now read your comment from several months ago. Thanks for covering the "douche bag" aspect of things. 8^) And at least in this video clip, Joe is def the man. Re Orianthi, whether RS is good for her, or not, is a personal issue for the two of them. Her skills are clearly first rate, something that Michael Jackson obviously felt was the case, since she was hired for the tour that, sadly, killed him. I don't think he hired her for any reason other than he thought she was very good at what she does. I enjoy recounting the guitar heros Michael had previously worked with: Larry Carlton, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, Slash, and Carlos Santana come to mind. Orianthi was asked to follow in their footsteps.

I was just reading some of these negative comments about Richie Sambora and Orianthi. I think that you are being hypercritical and that you are looking for fault, because you have this "agenda" in which you are compelled to rank the players. So one of them you "Lionize," that is Joe, and for the other two you are just searching for fault. Come on, this is a jam. These people are relaxed and loose and going out on a limb for the audience who love the dynamics, whether good or bad, of live music. These musicians are all playing their hearts out for a dynamite charity, and you don't have to sit in your armchair and search for fault. Just be big and recognize these people for the great players that they are, and also for their general musicianship in being able to put such a great jam together. Dynamite, I love 'em all, I was so happy to discover Richie in the first video, what a great guy and what an expressive player. I hadn't heard him as a solo artist before. And wow, he has not been idle, he is really versatile and he can really hold his own. Great-sounding singer too. How great.

Jesus Christ I’m a beginner and I can spot over saturation. It’s like they didn’t even pay attention to Joe clearly letting them play without interruption but as soon as he has his turn to speak it’s like they want to start playing more. If I was in that audience someone would’ve heard me say “Can Joe please Play!?” This man has become a respected individual in my eyes for being so humble

Well I'm a huge fan of both guitarists, my two favourite guitarists to be precise, so reading these comments I can see who are fans of each side. I've watched the end of that and while Richies end solo is nowhere near as good as Joe's, I fail to see the look of disgust, in fact the look on Joes face never changes. I grew up idolising Sambora, but like all guitarists they lose their dexterity in the fingers, but sometimes there brain doesn't want to believe that. Joe however is in his prime years, but at some stage a young pretender will over take him. So let's not pick and snipe, let's just marvel at two fantastic guitarists who give a lot of fans, a lot of pleasure. Peace guys ✌✌✌✌

Joe never gave a look of disgust on stage! He stayed pro the whole time and never showed if he got ticked off while he was up there. He just played the best he could under the circumstances, although, I'm sure he wasn't having fun. This was a totally unrehearsed Jam and It was for a good cause, the audience had a good time and they all gave their time to help raise money for the homeless.

the difference between a good guitarist and a GREAT guitarist is the great guitar player doesn't try to show every trick they have to impress the crowd, they play what is relevant to the music. richie got dull very quick and so did the girl. joe is the man, He's got excellent technique but does he need to keep showing it over and over? no he doesn't, he prefers to keep it musical.

Yeah, i agree but you have to consider first that Richie is on decline because of his abuse of alcohol and drugs...and also i believe he has some confidence problem regarding his future as a musician. After Bon Jovi he has been basically off and in the past (while he was young) he couldn't pull a successful solo career either. Richie in his prime is one of the top guitarists of rock-hard rock of all time. Bonamassa is one of the top guitarists of blues of today. Each one of them on their prime are untouchable.
@monkeyrevolution19647 жыл бұрын
It is true
@danielbarza86006 жыл бұрын
The issue here is that it is really easy to be embarrassed when playing next to Bonamassa. Yes, he was out of key, and the band was not rehearsed. He also basically just pulled out all of his Bon Jovi bag of tricks in every solo. He's not used to simply jamming through an extended simple blues song. That's not what made him famous. He made his name with big riffs and then the occasional short solo with a flurry of notes that fit the song. It doesn't translate to a bar band setting in this case.
