I lose a good deal of respect for Timothy Garton Ash towards the end. The dash to the east of NATO and the EU to take in countries with scant regard for if they met the criteria was a mistake. Again, with scant regard for if they met the criteria. How could that be good? What is he talking about with reluctance to give up empire? I believe that is the case with regard Russia but he mentions the British. The British couldn't wait to divest itself of the expense and responsibility of Empire. British people of his class immediately set to misrepresenting the past to cast what was empirically the greatest net force for good the world has ever seen as villainous.

Guests always go home. Germany's Turkish "Guest Workers" were/are, immigrants. It was a major step towards the Islamification of Europe. It didn't take Germany long to start damaging Europe yet again.

Honestly, this guy seems to be the dullest of everyone in the Hoover institution. He could have at the very least learned to pronounce the Ukrainian work he used. His points are also quite opinionated. "Biggest war since 1945" LOL. At least there are smart people on the panel that will likely redeem this video.

I guess the smart ones declined to be on the panel because they didn't want to criticize publicly.

It is my impression that in Hungary citizens still vote and the members of the legislature still vote. Is the lack of democracy as he sees it in preventing illegal immigration, or is there more?

People vote in Russia also but where is the democracy? If Orban control everything and has his people in all major positions then is no democracy. People vote but always same result, what's the point in voting?Using migration to scare and manipulate people is no democracy.
