My sweet spot would be booking NRT-DOH-CAI, with the first segment in Q Suites for 12.5h, and further 3.5h in First (QR branded its regional Business as First), all for merely 40,000 AA miles. Also you could access the jaw-dropping Al Safwa First Class Lounge in DOH during transit!

Add another 47.5 virgin atlantic FC miles for ANA business JFK(or anywhere in USA)-NRT. 87.5k miles total...now how should we get home from Cairo?

I booked 70k AA miles for each way from Los Angeles to Johannesburg Business class with stop in Seattle and Doha. Return to the same for another 70k AA miles. Have to fly economy between LA and Seattle but the rest of the route is business. Best deal ever.

I have followed your blog for the past two years and have learned immensely. What I have also learned by following the AC Aeroplan site is how dishonest it can be. Take a flight from YVR to TYO that has all seats available in Business Class. If you request one seat 60k, if you request two it is 100K each. This is not dynamic pricing, it is dishonest pricing.

Great video Ricky. Quick question - are business class points seats fully points refundable? If so this is also seems to add to the case to book business on points rather than non-refundable economy (or paying for the additional insurance).

in order to book some of the more complicated AC flights such as Asia via London or Frankfurt from Canada, is it necessary to phone Aeroplan? These do not show up on my searches on the AC booking website. In fact, notwithstanding AC's claim that all flights can now be booked by points I have found that optimal cash business class flights to Bangkok or Bogota are not available under the points option. The points offerings take longer, have more stopovers, and/or are mixed cabin. I phoned AC booking and they couldn't explain this and suggested I call Aeroplan. Can you offer any advice?

Ricky, Great Video! From YYC to NRT to BKK to HKG to YYC, does Aeroplan reward Business class ticket allow open jaw reward ticket with 2 stopovers (NRT and HKG)? 180,000 Aeroplan points?

This doesn't seem like an open-jaw to me, just a round-trip with one stopover in each direction. Yes it's allowed.
@crystalmethshrimp3 жыл бұрын
YVR to TYO for business ANA is very difficult to find. I logged onto the AC website and just checked every day throughout Jan1-Mar1 I only found 3 flights. Would there be more options on the ANA website? Are all the seats booked up or they're just projected to be booked and more seats will be released closer to the travel date? I guess my other option would be to fly business on AC, but I'm guessing it will be a totally different experience.
@GF-fb8sq3 жыл бұрын
You need to book one year out. And try SEA/LAX/SFO, YVR is AC's main hub, so they will want to limit partner bookings to msximise revnue.
@samroe45542 жыл бұрын
Sitting on a stack of points. International trips being not appealing for the time being so started to use the points on premium cabins domestically.

Can you got from YUL-DOH-Asia 1 or 2 with AA miles? Flying on Qsuites? I've never considered AA miles so I'm not sure how that ecosystem works.
@PrinceofTravel3 жыл бұрын
Nope - the routing rules don't allow you to go to Asia via the Middle East.

Should I book one and hope another one will pop up later. I have been looking online for any suggestions but couldn’t find any.Thanks for any help.

I wish I could take advantage of the YVR to TYO sweet spot. I want to go in April though and it's consistently showing me 75k+ points for mixed cabins, where only 13% of my trip will be in business class. I guess the take away here is that the rewards chart is for off-peak travel quotes.
@sagarvankwani19123 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t partner airlines be fixed though?

Duuuude! Great vid and content, as always! Quick question for you, why is dynamic pricing/points so all over the map right now? Booking one way in J next July 23rd yxe-yyz a J seat is ranging from 19.6K to 119K for the same journey. These flights are still empty, have you heard anything from AC or any other Aeroplan partners regarding these massive ranges of points Redemptions for the same class fare and flight?
@jamesallan98723 жыл бұрын
Because it's also about how AC EXPECTS that seat to sell. That's a Saturday in peak season. I know, it's still crazy. But there's a logic behind it
@PrinceofTravel3 жыл бұрын
As James said it's all about projected demand.
@jolayh94143 жыл бұрын
Dynamic pricing is not all bad. I recently booked YLW-MEX for 10,300 points, which according to the rewards chart should be 12,500 - 17,500 pts on AC.

I just searched for an economy YYC to YVR round trip for 2 on Aeroplan and the cheapest option for points (5,200 per round trip) actually costs about the same in cash ($303) as the points one does in fees alone ($292). Not worth it.
@PrinceofTravel3 жыл бұрын
The fees aren't $292. You're probably being shown one of the Points + Cash options.

Are they any interesting Aeroplan sweet spots flying out of Halifax?
@PrinceofTravel3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. There's the domestic economy sweet spot, plus flying to Western Europe on Air Canada is often relatively cheap because of the way the award chart works (it's based on the direct distance between two cities if you're flying on Air Canada only, and the total distance flown if you include a partner airline).
