Professor Eduardo Bonilla-Silva talked about this book, "Racism without Racists," in which he argues that we do not live in a post-racial society, despite the election and re-election of President Obama. Instead, he says, are now living in an age of color-blind racism that manifests itself in many, less overt ways than the racism experienced by past generations of non-white Americans. This interview, recorded in Durham, North Carolina, is part of Book TV's College Series.

He's ahead of his time and it's wonderful to know that his contributions are still relevant and are going to be relevant even moreso in the future.

No, you're not listening. Refusing to acknowledge continued patterns of systemic racial discrimination is racist. Claiming "I'm colorblind, I don't see color" (while at the same time, refusing to support groups in their fight for racial equality, and continuing to vote for policies that maintain and increase our society's huge racial disparities) IS RACIST. He calls this Colorblind Racism. Colorblind Racism, not the overt racism of the Klan, IS THE MAIN FORM OF RACISM TODAY that keeps propping up a racist system. However seeing that we have a white house occupied by white nationalists like Trump and Steven Miller, who say the alt right , pro-confederate monument thugs are 'fine people' , I think Bonilla Silva's theory needs to be updated. Overt Racism is back and is a lethal threat.

Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, we already have all the needed policy to prevent racial segregation. Changing anything more has to substantially change our understanding of the racial issue and the way our society functions. Pointless drivell.

He specifically explained that, rather than relying on votes and policy changes, people should take to the streets to enact fundamental social change. Your comment here is a straw man.

The United States, a "Christian" nation, had policy on paper for all men to be treated equally yet never did so... for decades... and here you are saying that "we already have all the needed policy". 👎 Too bad America didn't have the needed integrity to go with those needed policies 😔
