This man makes his living doing courses on book binding & box making. He has a link to his website listed in his description. He also sells DVDs that may add more info. I am only a youtube watcher and novice book binder (still learning) but I believe these are "draw ins" so you'll go to his site. For the person asking about his tools: to smooth or make folds crisper looks like a 6 inch "Bone Folder" or a "Teflon Folder". He uses what looks like a basic "Paste Brush".

It's the paper punch ZENITH (search for *Zenith Paper Punch Hewit'). Actually I prefer the Japanese paper drill (search for 'Japanese Push Drill Talas').
@pozartive13 жыл бұрын
You can buy hole punching tools for book binding. They are called Japanese Screw Punches and they come with a set of tips of different sizes. They work by pushing down on them and the internal action turns the drill to make a hole. They will go through paper,card and board suitable for book covers. My advice is to make sure you buy a really good one because the cheap Chinese knock offs are exactly that and you will be disappointed because they just don't cut well or make a tidy hole.

Thank you so much for this new set of tutorials. I have used your previous tutorials to make several books that I am very pleased with. Can you tell me what the single punch tool is called and where it can be obtained in the UK?
@pooplaitaaaa10 жыл бұрын
I would kill for that screw punch. I use the Martha Stewart one and only the smallest diameter fitting is useable and I can only punch seven thin sheets of paper max at a time. Please spread your love and disclose how you came about that gadget. It's been implied you designed it!!!!!

I wonder what that tool is called, I'd like to acquire one. (The website didn't seem to have any information about it - at least not in the 'book-binding' section.) What does one even google to find it "drilling hole punch, for Japanese book binding"? I wonder if that would work ... hm.

Hy! Can you tell me if it's simply a green paper or a sort of cloth that you used at the beginning? I tried but i teared my paper when i pressed with the bone.

The common size of bit is 3 mm for this kind of bookbinding. El tamaño común de bits es de 3 mm para este tipo de encuadernación.

What's the general measurement between the holes? Is it 0.5mm away from the edge and then 2 to 3cm between the five holes? I like how this is demonstrated, but little things like that need to be annotated or said out loud.

I wonder if you would share with me: What is the brand name and where did you purchase the hole punch for the Japanese Bookbinding video "Bookbinding - Japanese style Part 1 ". I am a hobbyist and I am learning Japanese bookbinding. I find the one I have to be inadequate for the job I am doing. I hope you will share this information with me.

It's great as far as it goes, but I think SeaLemonDIY , here on youtube, presents the whole nine yards, on every imagine able type of book-binding and construction you could wish for, and does it clearly, concisely, and in a far more friendly fashion. That's my take, anyway.
