【Wikipedia: Traditional Chinese bookbinding, also called stitched binding (Chinese: xian zhuang), is the method of bookbinding that the Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, and Vietnamese used before adopting the modern codex form.】 China is one of the earliest and main ancient civilizations. It is hard to deny that "Japanese style" was not adapted from China though Japanese may had developed a slightly different way of binding.
Thank you so much! I like drawing comic books for my friends to give them as cards for special occasions, and this book binding method makes the end product look so pretty when you use ribbons as the thread! Im OBSESSED and this is the method I’ll be using to bind all the comic books I make them~

Wonderfully produced video of a very simple, beautiful, and elegant technique. If you would like to create a more tightly bound volume, you can replace the binder clips with two 2 inch spring clamps (Generally about a dollar each at a home depot or lowes) and two wooden rulers. They will hold the pages together very firmly and allow for tighter stitching over all.

You can also use an awl for making the holes if you plan on doing a lot of these kinds of craft projects and you don't want your fingers to get sore from using a tiny push pin over and over again. They can be very inexpensive. I mean, apparently you already have a bone folder, so having an awl as well is not exactly a leap.

i added my own craft to the craft bc i didn't have the push pin thing or the thicc needle so like i used a regular needle to pierce the paper and then threaded a regular thread to my regular needle and tied it to the thicker thread thing to bind the thing lmao oh and the uh cover things were made out of the covers of an old notebook i had lying around. i'd say it looks pretty decent for sth made in the middle of the night while tripping balls yeehaw. thanks for the tutorial, fam
