Several of these books sound very interesting, Britta. I think I'll join with reading some of them in 2025. 😊 Just put several of the titles on hold! Thanks for sharing! ~ Kim

Hi Britta, I really like your list and want to join next year. I’ve also had a tough year both reading wise and healthwise so I’m happy to start the new year with some interesting books. Although I’ve read a few short story collections that were either good or wonderful, I also I’m not a fan of the genre. But the first title got me and I have heard of the author though I haven’t read her. I have read Delta of Venus, but it was so long ago. I can’t remember it. Lucia Berlin is one exception and I loved her to collections. I jus reread “evening in paradise”. It’s a keeper. I think I will try the Stone diaries only because I heard that’s title so many times on booktube. Wishing us all a better year. Aloha friend.

Great video as usual. My TBR list is thanks to you now infinite. "Delta of Venus" to use your words, VERY VERY visual.

What a good list with a lovely mix of rereads and new titles. Stone Diaries is excellent and I would like to reread it very much.

I'm going to try to join in. I'm glad to see a lot of them are short, which will make it easier. I'm not a big short story fan either, it will be interesting to see how that works for me. And you.

This sounds wonderful, Britta. I read Amy Hempel’s Reasons to Live when it was a new book. I know I liked it, but I can’t remember any details now. I also read The Stone Diaries, but again, I’ve lost the details. I’d like to try to join you for some of these books.

I loved Stone Diaries, too. I read all the Nancy Mitford novels, Don't Tell Alfred, follows, The Blessing. Her best collection of letters, in my opinion, were the ones between her and Evelyn Waugh. I started reading the Mitfords in the nineteen-seventies, started with Jessica, Hons and Rebels, and A Fine Old Conflict. Found a first of her best known, The American Way of Death, and later, she wrote The American Way of Birth. Nancy's history writings are very fine. You could stay busy a long time reading about the Mitford sisters. It is good social history for those interested between the wars and after.

Love that top on you Britta! The Stone Diaries is really good. I read it years ago with my Normandy Book Club. I remember we had such a great discussion on it. Anaïs Nin! I don't really get into short stories either. I need to pick up the diaries again. I started and didn't finish.

I am so eager to hear what you make of The Female Quixote! And I'm going to try to join y'all for The Pursuit of Love, at the very least. Thanks!

I'm going to join you for The Stone Diaries. Just bought a copy a couple of days ago. I'm also interested in reading The Pursuit of Love, because I've never read any Nancy Mitford and in the short stories by Anaïs Nin, because I've read Henry and June and always wanted to read something else by her.

Thanks, Britta!🌷Even though I’ve had Don Quixote on my shelves waiting for me to pick it up for a couple of years, I think I’ll join you for The Female Quixote (I’ve found it in the Oxford World Classics edition, and I must admit, it does look a lot nicer than yours😉). I found The Pursuit of Love, with all sorts of eccentric characters, quite an enjoyable read. So much so that I decided to read its sequel, Don’t Tell Alfred. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

I have read three of Margaret Mazzantini's books (also in German translation) and liked all of them. That was more than ten years ago and I don't remember details, but I think that I liked the way the author analized relationships😊

I believe I will join you for The Delta of Venus and The Female Quixote. I’m not a big reader of erotica but don’t mind trying with Nin. Hopefully I can read Don Quixote before The Female Quixote. Plans for 2025 are in play!

I love The Stone Diaries, I think it was the book that got me into Carol Shields writing and although I haven’t read Delta of Venus for more than 20 years I remember I did actually find it erotic 🤔. Funnily enough I was going through some forgotten piles of books the other day and found The Collected Stories of Amy Hempel. I am a fan of short stories and although I’m planning on not planning anything next year, I might be tempted to join in with that one!

I may read a few, but definitely not interested in erotica garbage. My boundaries are if my granddaughters walk in, I want to be proud of the book laying on the table.
