I was thinking the exact same thing. You've just left the bookstore and you're getting a bite to eat. You open one of your new books to read with your meal and -- voila -- you have a bookmark right there in your wallet when you're ready to leave.

Congratulations on your marriage! These are very cute. I haven't used "traditional" bookmarks in years because I also find them weirdly bulky. I use paint sample chips that you can get free from Lowes or Home Depot or other home improvement stores because they are a much nicer size and they come in tons of colors.

I agree bookmarks should be smaller! For the past year I've been using a gift card the size of a business card that I got with an etsy purchase. It's "ephemera/cottage" style with birds, butterflies, newsprint in the background etc and it's just perfect for popping in my book holding my place. Because it's smaller it doesn't get bent or messed up it's still in good shape!

I have a few mass market paperbacks, and the Penguin Little Black Classics, and the Penguin Modern box set - so lots of small books! People tend to want to talk to me more when I’m reading than when I’m not 😂. “What are you reading? Is it good? Where did you get it? Let me see the cover.” I have switched to ebooks to try to decrease this, but I would have to read on my phone instead of Kindle, because there are Kindle questioners. “What’s that? That’s a huge phone. Which Kindle do you have? I like your Kindle cover. What are you reading? You are always reading.” 🤦🏾‍♀️

In my mind, anything can serve as a bookmark. There's no limit to the human imagination, really. I'm thinking of a chopstick. A piece of toilet paper awaiting the butt of reams of paper. A Patrick Bateman style business card inked in Sillian Rail. A strand of pubic hair (washed and deodorized, of course). A brown envelope. An old Sodexo meal plan with strings of Xs from your heyday.
