Thank you Bretheren for an inspiring and beautiful presentation. All these little details and profound insights are so amazing, Wow! There were so many wonderful points that stood out for me, too many to name. I do love what was said about the women in the Saviour's line. The way this was delivered and broken down was brilliant. From a diverse family tree to an all encompassing/inclusive Saviour, double Wow! I just think that is beautiful. It blows me away. I love what was said about adoption and the name Yeshua. I also love what was said about the Saviour's role at the second coming as opposed to what it was at his first coming. I love the insights shared by these amazing Bretheren. I love that we have two magnificent and Heavenly teachers for the next part of the learning journey ❤️.

I love what you taught today and I think a lot about how the people really felt like they needed a savior. They knew they were falling and they knew that a savior had to come to bring them back to God. They sang songs about it and they were looking for it and the Angels sang about it. It was a really big deal! In our day we don't feel that way because He has already come and sometimes I wonder how that would have felt in your heart and in your mind and in your spirit to feel fallen and waiting for the day that you didn't have to feel fallen anymore.

🤩So enlightening! I was wonder about what Joseph and Mary felt, once they saw, held and met their little baby Jeshua in their arms. It must have been so much mixed feelings, of joy and questions. I know this is more of a story-crafting tip, but I think it makes sense in the context of Matthew telling Christs genealogy: when you build up people previous to introducing a new character and then introduce the character where they inherently have a connection to said previous characters, it sets them up higher than the previous characters, especially if it is stated that they would do greater than they, or it is shown as the case. in some sense he is saying: "Jesus is of King David's line! expect greatness from him!". this is just my thoughts. Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!

Brethren, What videos are you using during your lessons?
@breda48822 жыл бұрын
I know it takes awhile to implement suggestions as the videos are recorded in bulk, but I would like to suggest that ‘unique’ words and phrases especially when they talk about ancient terms or word roots be either written as a text overlay on the video or have a list of terms in the video description if they do not write it on the whiteboard. Otherwise we all have to guess the spelling.

I really enjoyed the insight on Joesph adopting Jesus, what the names of Jesus mean, and the word betrothed. I do have a question for Taylor. Why do you think Mary was from a poor family? We are told she was raised in the temple. Where do you get that information?
@taylorhalverson30522 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Ann! Nazareth was a very small and poor town. Mary likely would have also been poor, like all of her neighbors. I'm not familiar with where in the scriptures it states that Mary was raised in the temple so I don't have more information on that.

Fourteen generations in 750 years is an average of 53.5 years, which is absolutely believable as men can father children well into later years. And many men took younger wives later in life. We can't judge the past by what is common in the USA today.

One of the things I've always admired about Mary is that she volunteered to have the stigma of "unwed mother" placed on her, something she likely lived with every day for the rest of her life, just to help bring about the Lord's righteous purposes. She was, after all, innocent. She says to the angel that she was a virgin (and Nephi is shown the same in the Book of Mormon). Nevertheless, her husband-to-be could have had her killed, or, at the very least, would be expected to cancel their marriage. By taking her as his wife despite her pregnant condition, he could easily have been seen as admitting that he was the father of the child and that he and Mary had both been engaged in sinful conduct prior to marriage. He, too, was presumably innocent. Sometimes doing the right thing requires enduring shame, even though you've done nothing shameful. When I was a teenager, I went through something similar myself. I'd had health issues from early childhood, but I quickly found that mentioning it caused my Dad to get violent with my mother (because she felt they should have sought medical care for me, while my Dad insisted it'd be a waste of money because nothing could be wrong with his daughter, even though he also had health issues...) and the counselors in Elementary School made my life pure misery because of it. In 3rd grade, they insisted I had to be autistic, and when the first test came back that I was not, they ran another, and then a third right before the end of the school year. In the next school, the counselor assumed that my health problems meant I'd been molested and sicked CPS on us (they found no evidence of molestation, btw). In fifth grade, I was physically bullied because of my health issues, and the school did nothing about it. So, I learned to hide it, and I managed to hide most of the symptoms until my Senior year of High School (though the problems had been worsening each year of High School). I landed in hospital after hospital all year long, and, rather than being supportive, many in the community began to spread rumors. Several people told my mom that I must be on drugs and she should check my room. She did, but she never found anything. (Because there was nothing to find. I've never tried illegal drugs, even to this day.) The doctors were sure I was pregnant and put me through 3 sonograms in one year (as well as a slew of pregnancy and drug tests over and over and over again - all were clean). Even the Mayo Clinic refused to believe that an 18-year-old in the late '90s could be a virgin (but I was, and frankly still am at age 41, largely due to the health issues I've had from childhood). I was bullied, shamed, ridiculed, and ostracized because of a neurological problem I was apparently born with. I've never been able to figure out what all those naysayers expected me to do. I hid the symptoms for as long as I could. What more should I have done? I was an honor roll student who'd never had a boyfriend, hadn't tried drugs, had never been in trouble with the law, was involved in multiple extra-curricular activities, and was a faithful member of the Church. What did I do wrong to deserve such cruel treatment at the hands of so-called friends and the medical "professionals" we were foolish enough to trust time and time again? That must have been how Mary felt all those centuries ago. Though she did nothing to warrant how she was treated, yet she continued. She pressed onward. She courageously faced each new day, despite the challenges. That takes a LOT of courage.
