I visited this site as a young man and was very impressed by the Spirit to know the School of Prophets was a spiritual university. I knew jospeh Smith was a true prophet of this final dispensation and I still know it. I am so grateful for all that was revealed by the Lord through the Prophet to bless His children.

Dan Peterson is one of my favorite LDS scholars. I've been a big fan for a long time. Thanks for sharing this interview. I also really loved his and Gerrit Dirkmaat's short insights videos on the Witnesses movie web site. I bought the DVDs of that movie, both the movie itself and the other video about the production of the movie. It was very well done. I'm also really enjoying these videos with Scott Christopher :)

One of my pioneer ancestors was a man by the name of Alexander Neibaur. He was Jewish and was taught the faith. His parents had him taught to become a rabbi but Alexander decided he wanted to go into Dentistry. You can google his life story in a number of websites. In his diary, Alexander mentions teaching Joseph Smith Hebrew as well as German. I don't know how much but it was mentioned in his journal. Alexander was the first man of Jewish ancestors to accept the gospel and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

All the Saints are meant to be prophets and prophetess, as this means witness of Jesus Christ.

Wow! Harvard and Yale Divinity School also offered a School of the Prophets as well!

Appreciate noting the small, simple, humble spaces for holiness. Christ taught on the side of a hill. The early church didn’t need a Rameumptom or 174 foot tall spires. What changed?

You seem to be insinuating something about the economic status of the Church using temples as an example. Temples have always been important in the Lord's church. Even Christ cleansed the temple at Jerusalem reminding people that it was his Father's house. The temples built by Solomon and in ancient Jerusalem were grand and elaborate, serving as focal points for the people’s worship. As the Church has grown and become more established, it has developed the resources to construct elaborate temples. The construction of these temples is seen as a way to give back some of the blessings that members have received from the Lord. Building larger and more temples allows more members to participate in sacred ordinances without traveling long distances.

@@Bookofmormoncentralofficial Seems if it was about decreasing distances, then the temple building policy of President Hinkley building more and smaller temples makes the most sense. Filing lawsuits against small cities and inspiring the local residents to protest is quickly becoming President Nelson’s temple legacy. Scripturally, Christ’s sacrifice tore the veil of the temple and removed the need for intercessors such as the Levitical priesthood and animal sacrifices. Why did Joseph Smith put the veil back up that Christ Himself tore down?

Why don’t you ask the obvious question “what has happened to the school of the Prophets, why is it no longer a part of The Lords true church, being the source of all truth where and why did it go, if the school of the Prophets was the key place for the Prophet to receive dictated Revelation and the school no longer exists, the obvious conclusion is that there has been no more dictated Revelation.

Would love to hear Brother Peterson speak on humility, the professorship and 2nd Nephi 27: 16.

You can get in touch with Dan through the Interpreter Foundation. I'm sure he'd be happy to talk with you. Insinuating things about other people though is not kind. We would all do well to remember the Savior's words in 3 Nephi 14: 3
