I loved the Finlay Donovan books. Cozy Murder Mysteries that are clever and focus on a woman’s perspective. Great to pull you out of a book slump! You mentioned some of my most anticipated. Witch King by Martha Wells is one of my most anticipated releases for next year! I hope you will give Murderbot another try. It is one of my favorite series and I think you’ll like it!

I liked Artificial Condition (the second novella of Murderbot) more than the first one, so I'd definitely give it a try! There's a lot of good snark in that one between Murderbot and a different AI

Also I am really hyped for the untitled 4th book in the Bridge Kingdom series, which is estimated to come out some time in 2023

I read the first Finley Donavan book (audio) and I really liked it, I think I would describe just like you did. Also, I read murderbot as audio and really liked it, idk if I would have liked it as much if it was a physical read. Maybe changing the format will help?

Ok I thought Stolen Heir was about the character that was chained to her or his (can’t remember) caretakers possible king and queen because she or he is so deadly. I think this character was introduced in the second book. Now I gotta go look.
