Based on what you said, I think the book was called phantom limbs because the person is no longer there, but you still feel pain and grief because of them. It's a metaphor. Because the person is gone, they're not there anymore, but you still continue to sort of have a relationship with them, even when they are dead. Like when you've lost someone, you can still sort of have conversations with them, with their grave maybe, visit their room, look at the things that belonged to them. It's like a phantom limb.

Books I’ve read recently (in the last month): The Magician’s Land by Lev Grossman (4 Stars, best book in that series) The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (5 Stars, best book I have read all year, new favorite, can’t say enough good things about it) The Three Sisters Island trilogy by Nora Roberts (3-4 Stars, fun romance novel series about witches) The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli (4 Stars, sweet and funny YA romance, made me happy) Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake (4 Stars, dark, brutal, YA fantasy. A little slow to start but really picks up at the end, I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book) I love you’re videos and I hope you’re having a lovely day!

Yes, go read everything by Tamora Pierce, especially her Tortall series (which Tempests and Slaughter is a part of....her other big series is the Circle of Magic). I haven't read Tempests yet, but I'm currently doing a Tortall reread to get to it and 2 others of the more recent releases, and I only have 3 more books to go before I get to read Tempests. So very excited! :)

Your discription of Bob made me think of Noah Barleywater runs away by John Boyne. If you like fairytales, you should try it. I really liked it because of the plot in the end but it was also pretty funny and a bit confusing to read. I'm curious what you'd think of it. I saw Phantom limbs on your bookshelves in a recent video and I was really drawn to the cover, it's so pretty! I think I might give that one a try.

Oh my god, I'm so happy you addressed this 'possessiveness' trope! I'm sooo annoyed that it's always potrayed as cool and amazing. Maybe the book is called 'Phantom Limbs' in a metaphorical sense? If you loose a person to death it might be for a long time as if they're still there, when they are really not...

Hey Jesse, theres a series called the 39 clues. Its about this family separated by braches of there family. The main charecter is a brother and sister duo. It's hard to explain but there so good! There are four parts that make up the entire series but the first one is called the clue hunt and the first book is called the maze of bones. It deals with family drama, suspense, thrill, and history. I would totally recommend these books they're pretty long(about 160 to 220 pages but they're still amazing

So, I know you're probably going to to back and read Tamora Pierce's Tortall universe books but I would also suggest the Emelan (Circle) universe as well. I kind of grew up reading the Circle of Magic books and they are really fantastic. They start out middle grade and then as the characters grow it switches to young adult. The circle books get overlooked a lot because Pierce's Tortall universe is more popular but they are definitely worth reading.

Hey Jesse i figured the title Phantom Limbs was also metaphorically referring to the way loss feels like someone is sort of still there. I haven’t read the book so I may be wrong but that’s how I read it. Hope this is at all helpful lol ^_^

Hi Jesse! These are my absolut favourite videos and it really helps that you have quite a similar taste of books as me. Haven’t read any of those yet, though. But I guess, Phantom Limbs is kind of a metaphor for the maincharacter loosing his brother, maybe he feels like his brother somehow is still there (but I don’t know, as I said, haven’t read it). I‘m currently reading the second book to the Memoirs of Lady Trent - have you read the series?

Hi Jesse! With regard to "Phantom Limbs" and your statement that "Just because you have history with somebody doesn't mean you have ownership over that person". Thank you so much for pointing out that perpetuating the idea that it's OK to act inappropriately towards others (I am assuming it's stalker-ish/jealous/abusive). Not only does it send the wrong message to those who act this way, it also tells the targets of this behavior that it's normal and they simply need to accept it as part of life, which is definitely not true. Thanks so much for your insight. I really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

I think 'Phantom Limbs' is called that way because when you lose a limb you still ''feel it'', and it implies that that is what the main character feels about their brother.
