I'm starting the Bear and Nightingale in Dec. I love reading whimsical wintry vibe books in summer cos Aussie summer's are hot as f#@% 🤣🤣 You have got me excited about this one! Cheers 💖

Hahaha that's a good strategy! I hope you love it and it makes you feel as chilly as you wish you were!

I miss travel too :') I should really read the bear and the nightingale. I really loved getting immersed in city of brass and the world! I'm currently reading kingdom of copper and I am loving the political intrigue. The vine witch has a gorgeous cover! I have station eleven on my tbr and I really want to read it!

Ahhh I can't wait to hear what you think of the end of KoC. I think the winternight trilogy is a solid series as a whole. And if you can handle pandemics, station eleven is definitely a thought provoking book!

Station Eleven has such fall vibes! I read it last year around this time of the year and I loved it but I don't think I could ever read it with everything that's been going on, I remember it made me so anxious... but I'd love to read City of brass soon!!

Right? I feel exactly the same. You should definitely pick up City of Brass, no apocalyptic death to worry about there 😉

You're saying all the books I want to read but haven't read yet. I have to pick up Bear and the Nightingale and City of Brass. Also, I'm from New England so maybe I need to check that one out.

Ooh you're in for some treats when you do eventually get to them then!

Some other really good books for atmosphere I've read recently are 'Night Circus' (ajungleoftales.blogspot.com/2020/08/it-oughta-be-movie-night-circus-by-erin.html ), 'The windup girl' (ajungleoftales.blogspot.com/2020/07/it-oughta-be-movie-windup-girl-by-paolo.html ), 'Gentlemen of the road' (ajungleoftales.blogspot.com/2020/07/it-oughta-be-movie-gentlemen-of-road-by.html ), and 'Neverwhere' (ajungleoftales.blogspot.com/2020/10/it-oughta-be-movie-neverwhere-by-neil.html ) I was halfway into 'The Graveyard Book' before realizing it was 'The Jungle Book' except with Shere Khan -> murderer guy, Bagheera -> vampire, ghosts -> wolf pack, etc. Not complaining, mind you - I like both!

It's been 3 or 4 years since I read The Jungle Book so I don't remember it much, but that definitely makes sense!

Goodness yes! Atmosphere is so important to me too, and I loved your selections. My choices might include The Name of the Wind, House of Salt & Sorrow, and The Ocean at The End of the Lane (audiobook narrated by Gaiman himself).

Ooh Name of the Wind is one of my favorite books but I read it so long ago that it didn't come to mind for atmosphere, that's a good point. I was already planning to read the other two, but learning they have great atmosphere definitely bumps them up on the list!
