A silent voice hits me in the honey nut feelios every single time, it’s such a beautifully emotional series and despite all the pain it’s such an optimistic (?) series. A similarish manga I would recommend is silver spoon by hiromu arakawa (who also wrote fullmetal alchemist). It’s overall a very chill farming series, but the main characters all have underlying ~trauma~, and arakawa always does a great job writing fleshed our character arcs and talks about actual issues in the farming life! (I’m sorry this was so long) I love your recommendations!! 💜

I agree about it being both depressing and optimistic. That’s part of the reason I enjoyed it so much. It made me think about and see hope in people changing and becoming better even though it’s a very painful situation. Thank you for the recommendation I will check that out! 💜 I read The Sun is Also a Star off of your suggestion and I loved it! Honestly the “instant falling in love” but didn’t bother me all that much because I felt like it was really well written. I am someone who believes that everything happens for a reason so that’s probably why I enjoyed it so much, but also it was really well done and made me think a lot about choices! So uh yeah thanks for recommending it in an earlier video because I really enjoyed it!

I LOVED The Sun is Also a Star! I loved the different perspectives, it got me thinking about the people that I walk past in my everyday life. Also really got me thinking about how every person that I pass has their own unique, complex, and intense lives. We are all the main characters of our own story.

I loved The Sun is Also A Star! I've heard a lot of people say that they were not a fan of the fall-in-love-in-24-hours trope and I get it.. But I went into this book knowing I might not be a fan of the whole 24 hour thing but I loved it! It was done so beautifully. The male protagonist didn't profess his love the entire time, or thought about how in love he is to her. They got to know each other and learned about each other's pains. It felt realistic to me and it was so so good Also your hair turned out great! Mine is more red than purple. Hopefully next time I color it, it would be closer to the shade I want. 💜💜💜

I read The Sun is Also a Star in high school and absolutely LOVED it ☺️ I really enjoyed how many layers the story had and it’s just so great. I didn’t like the movie though, they didn’t do it justice tbh 😭 I’ve read a few of the others you mentioned but a lot of these are ones I haven’t heard about before and now I want to check them out. Also I LOVE the Sun is Also a Star 💜 Some manga I recommend: Orange, The Promised Neverland, and Deathnote They all have dark themes but are very different from one another so definitely do your research. I’d say Orange is the most similar to a Silent Voice because there’s a lot of focus on the friendships and also trigger warnings for suicide and depression

Just here to give you a cyber hug and saying that The Sun Is Also A Star is one of my favorite books of all time. And movie. The histories that Nic9la put in it, i felt everything to my core, everything felt so real and believable despite the "one day in love" kind of thing. Chasing the american dream... impossible love... made me think of things that happened to me and made me feel seen in a way tho i am a light skin latina. Her writing is so engrossing too. I hate myself for avoiding this book so long due to hype. Hype is well deserved.

Love the hair queen 💜💜💜 I rec Fruits Basket manga series/ the 2019 anime if you like stories surrounding childhood abuse/generational trauma. It’s a classic series that makes me cry every time! Also there is an anime adaptation from the earlier 2000s but I don’t recommend starting with that since it cuts out much of the original material.
