I really loved it. I knew the basic premise, a horror fan thinks she’s in slasher. It was 95% mystery and only 5% horror, but it kept me guessing so I loved that. I loved the bit of character development we got for Jade and I hope my questions get answered in the second book.

I'm really surprised a lot of people didn't think the Only Good Indians was horror. I was so anxious throughout the entire book to know what would happen. I feel like this book didn't feel like horror because Jade wasn't actually afraid of the slasher until the end. She was on their side, so that took all of the fear out for me. I was only afraid for her because of her dad & his seedy friend and at the end.

I think her character was annoyingly, rude self centered willing to let others die and almost completely unlikable

- I LOVED Jade as the main character -I didn't feel like Jade's stream consciousness helped me understand Jade better so I couldn't get invested. I think flashbacks would have helped. I understood her "core motivation" and I loved her snark. -I actually don't remember the ending because I had to speed-read it before returning to the library. -I wish there was a list of all the characters bc I kept getting lost. -"It's literally about the horror of being Black. People will even say that [Ring Shout] isn't horror. There's a monster with twelve eyes. How are you going to say that's not horror simply because it doesn't reflect what frightens white folk?" -Jesse

After months of extending my libarary hold, I fought the fear of disappointment and finally read it. I think I love it, still absorbing it. It took a leap of faith to get into it, but once I was on a roll I was hooked. Love this book club review, thank you!! I"ve already have Dont' Fear the Reaper on hold.

Poor Mollie! My mom and I had COVID last year and it was a rough time. Praying they recover quickly! After hearing how much Kayla loves this one I’m going to pick it up!

Really? I really didn’t like it!🙈 why did you like it?
@amberburch1523 жыл бұрын
@@hannahwallis1290 I found Jade's voice really compelling. The audiobook was a stellar performance, and that helped. I really felt for Jade. The cherry on top was the fantastic, chaotic climax of the book at the fourth of July party. That was nuts.

I’m with Mollie. I finished the book last night and…I’m still like “wtf was that?”

We're getting sequels because that's just what you do with slashers. Watching this late because I just finished it this morning!

Amen! I had to restart this book because it was so slow. The audiobook got me through and I liked the idea but didn’t love it

that awkward moment when you finished the book for the next month before this livestream (on the other hand, it gives me an opportunity to finally get to House of Leaves, and then I would have read all the picks so far!)

Spoiler... I still can't figure out what Theo's role in this was. Was he possessed? Did he kill those people? Why?

The audio book was hard to follow, I had to reread everything I had listened to. I sometimes had to reread what I physically read as well. I think Jade's thoughts are a bit convoluted. She can be hard to follow. Also, she is a bit crazy IMO and can be very impulsive. I like her, but I don't always understand her.
