I had a similar reaction to getting covid a couple years ago that Liam had, so I really sympathize with him. It was the most pain I've ever been in, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep laying down, and I lost my voice for over a month (had to use text to speech at work). I'm glad he's feeling better now!

Don‘t feel bad - I gave Jade City 2 stars on the first read a few years ago, and when I caved to the pressure and hype and gave the whole trilogy a second try and all I could muster was a low 3 stars upon reread 😒

I remember reading jade city, I didn't care much, put on hold at 50% and never looked back. One day I plan to get back because is so many people favorite and I wish I also got the hype. There is something conforting in hearing people not enjoying the book everyone is talking about, because you don't feel like a fluke when you don't agree with the majority

7:08 make sure your reduce motion is turned off. I had the same issue where my Spotify wrapped wasn’t showing the graphics and story. If you have an iPhone, go to your settings and click on accessibility, then click on motion and make sure that the reduce motion toggle is turned off

I highly recommend watching The Magdalene Sisters (2002), it dives deeper into the convents in Ireland and what they did to those young girls (it's a true story). Oh and Small Things Like These will get an adaptation soon!

This is probably too late for this year, but the Hannah Swenson mysteries by Joanne Fluke have many Christmasy entries. The first Christmas one (which is the sixth in the series as a whole), Sugar Cookie Murder, is absolutely fantastic, and most of the others are really great as well. And the series as a whole is really fun and interesting, and the mysteries are so well crafted, so that series might help boost your average star rating next year. Plus all the books have recipes in them so you could do a video/series dedicated to trying out the recipes!
