Stickers and candles would both be so fun! The candle I feel like you could go a very "bookish" route (old paper, kinda woody or smoky etc especially to lean into the gravestone imagedy) orr something really whimsical and pleasantly chaotic to really capture the Vibe 😭❤

A mouse nibbled on my LDBC hoodie from a few years so I might be needing to get a new one 👀. But I’m also obsessed with stickers and I think a candle would be an amazing idea for LDBC. The Burlap Bag is a small candle business that has done bookish releases in the past, if you’re still looking for candle companies! Very aesthetic packaging, amazing customer service, and I’ve never bought a scent I didn’t love by them.

I think stickers are a good idea. They could go in the books or in readers’ book journals (different sizes would allow for use as a small detail on page(s) with notes and details about the book, or as a larger detail on a spread listing the book club reads for the year). I also like the idea of higher quality ones for laptops, water bottles, etc. My initial thought while watching was bookmarks. Maybe either different types or just a set of different styles. One could be the book club logo (shaped like the tombstone 🪦 just really tall), but maybe other options that are very “you” in style in imagery &/or your favorite book quotes or puns.🤷🏻‍♀️ (LaLaLiterally) Or maybe put out one each year with the Buzzword Challenge prompts (as a checklist on one side and lines on the back for tracking titles of what books you read for each prompt) or one with your top 10 book recs for the year. The candle idea also sounds cool. I initially was thinking tobacco and leather like an old home library, but also liked someone’s suggestion of petrichor and campfire. The enamel pin suggestion is also a fun idea.

I can understand the stress involved as time goes on in trying to create a perfect situation especially for the mass when it consists of content for them to enjoy. The turn of something starting out fun but later becoming something that feels has to be perfect. I’m glad you reflected on that topic & came to the conclusion that you did. Yes I think the bookclub should be more or less enjoyed by many people, & there will be times when you can ask our opinions, but ultimately it shouldn’t be something to stress about. I’m not even going to say it has to be something you pick, but rather as long as the idea of it doesn’t cause you to not have fun. The viewers will follow through with that fun.

Re: book stamps and stickers: I don't know if you've already done them before, but book plates could be a good idea! You can sell them as sticker sheets for members to put in anything they purchase for book club. It could include the club logo, space for them to write their name, the month they read it, maybe some blank stars to color in for their final rating!

My main issues with the book club stickers that come on books in stores is a) Its usually not a book club i participate with/care about and b) I can't choose a good place on the cover to put it so it doesn't block any art. So I would actually buy stickers to add to the books

PLEASE all the merch - I barely even participate (just because I suck at it not because Im not interested) and I think the stickers are such a cute idea. People love annotating their books now you could even make a sticker pack of your spooky rating system that you do during your vlogs for people to put in their books. Novel Wicks is a candle company I love and Olivia Reads a Latte uses them a lot.
