Dude, I am SO THERE with you on the annoyance of books not matching despite being the same format. I bought a paperback edition of The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell at Walmart on a whim one weekend. It's about the standard dimensions of your average paperback in terms of height and width. When I saw the sequel. The Devil's Thief. was coming out in hardback, I was a bit peeved that I had to wait a while for the paperback edition to release. Then, Amazon surprised me with an option to order it in paperback early, so I jumped on it - even though there was no prime benefit to it. Then when I got it, I WAS FURIOUS!! This "paperback" turned out to be as tall as your typical tall hardback! So next to each other, there's like a full inch difference and I just get so irritated when I look at them together! I love the books though and would recommend them to you, btw.

There are many books that make me slip back in time. I think the most vivid memory comes to my mind when I think City of bones. I remember that it was a late night (around 12am) around Christmas time and I had just finished the movie "mortal instruments: city of bones". I just loved it so much and I remember myself pacing in my room being super excited because I wanted to read every single book in the series and find out what happens later on. And after a few days I got the first book. It was the year (2016). It was when I started actually reading and loving books. Until then I hadn't really read any books. So I'm really thankful for the movie and for the mortal instruments and infernal devices because they sparked my interest in books. Without this series, i honestly don't know if I would be the same person.

one of many books that makes me “time slip” is “The Mark Of Athena.” It takes me back to 2017 when I first read it (there are a lot of creases in the spine). It was significant to me because at the time, I’d written a note in it that said “I read this in 8 days! No joke!” I was really amazed because I’d never read a book that long that fast before 😂

The worst is when I read the first few ones over and over but never the last book 😭 The First Test by Tamora Pierce is a book that makes me slip back in time. I can remember the first time I picked that book off the library shelf and the fond smile that appeared on my face every time I spotted it on a library/bookshelf after. I loved Keladry as a protagonist and it’s probably the moment I fell in love with female warriors which now permeates every creative aspect of myself.

A book that really transports my back in time on my shelves is my copy of Some Ether by Nick Flynn. It’s a beautiful collection of poetry that was lent to me by a college professor. Less than a week later I had a house fire in which a lot of my possessions were destroyed, but this little paper back poetry book survived. It has smoke damage on the cover but didn’t burn at all. Every time I look at it or read from it I’m reminded of that fire and of my college professor that gave it to me, in hope that I’d find enjoyment and inspiration from it.

I organize my book shelves by genre with authors works together. I also separate read from unread. Since I'm a bit of a broke bookworm it's rare that I get a new book or a hardback so most of my books are second hand and well worn so sorting by genre rather than esthetics makes sense

My book that has damaged is my big Song of ice and fire history of the lands of Westeros book. (Yes the one that’s like $50-$80 and is the big red one) I saved up and got it and proceeded to carry it around with me because I love the world and would read it between class. The corners got damaged and I have taped them up to keep it looking nice. I love the book and haven’t fully read through it all but will at some point!

I’ve always loved your bookshelves even though you don’t have an organization method! But the height thingy is big goals, it looks very pleasing. As for me, I enjoy reorganizing my bookshelves, probably because they don’t really change around a lot 😂 The most important thing for me is putting all author’s books in one place (they’re usually same height and type so that’s a bonus point for the aesthetics), and then other authors of same genre. It’s easy since most of the books I have are fantasy and the rest are like classics lmao. They usually also don’t change their places since I’m used to how they look lol Good luck in organizing your bookshelves in your new place! I have used basically every organizational method lol. Alphabetical, by color, by genre, by size, etc. I’ve gotten really into nonfiction in the past few years, so right now I have a nonfiction shelf and a fiction shelf... except I also have separate Rick Riordan shelves and an LGBT shelf on my bed headboard shelves. Unlike you I got my bed with the intention of also using it as a bookshelf! I just love touching books while I’m sleeping lol You’ve inspired me to reorganize my bookshelves now at 2am on Christmas eve

I love watching manga slowly but surely take up more and more shelf space :)
