We have quite a few books in common, including A Thousand Splendid Suns - also one of my absolute favourites. Crime & Punishment is another of my faves, it's not as intimidating as you might think. I love the book equivalent of the junk drawer, think most of us will have one (or two) of those 😂

A thousand splendid suns made me sob so much and I definitely need to get over my fear of reading Russian literature….

I love the fact that you have a mixture of hardbacks, paperbacks, new books, used books, old books - lots of different styles.

If you like war poetry, people's focus usually is WW1 but I would recommend not to overlook WW2 and in particular the work of Keith Douglas. His Vergissmeinnicht is perhaps the most heart-breaking of all war poems.

I’ve never heard of this poet, thank you for telling me… will try and give this poem a read. If you have any more recommendations, I would love to hear them
