It's just what I was thinking. She was able to distribute the spaces in a way that it didn't look bad and she could put up some decoration while she filled the gaps by buying more books. Why put books you don't want to have there just to see the bookshelve full? but oh well, she still did a great job hahahaha

​@maditales I have a few Billy Book Shelves but I find that they are about 5 inches deeper then what I need for most of my books. So I bought Ikea "Bookshelves" that are made for DVDs and CD. They take up less Space.

As a suggestion for the gap behind the special edition... Amazon sells clear L-shape gap blockers for under the couch that could help prevent the books from falling into the abyss behind the shelf. You can use 3M removable tape to secure the blocker to the wall, to the shelf or both. She library looks great but dont feel bad about the book you had to pull from under the bed... treat them as placeholders for books you will love to display later 😊

The shelf look amazing. If you are so bothered by the books under the bed being on the bookshelf you can put them on the shelfs behind the chair. That way they would be there and no one will be able to see them :)

Nah because the people who do this tend to be collectors more than they are readers (I.e. having to be extremely careful of keeping the book in new condition to the point where reading it is unenjoyable). Have a friend like this who lent me a book and had to give up halfway because my reading pace was soooo slow due to the way she demanded I hold the book 😭

I had the same gap between my Billy bookshelves, and I just put in a small screw to screw the bookshelves together at the top, and it got rid of the gap!

We bought these clip thingies at the hardware store, to fasten the shelves together. Attaching them together closed the gaps. I don’t know what they were called, they looked a bit like flat hinges. We put them on the back of the shelves so they weren’t visible. Then we secured the shelves to the wall. Same shelves as you have. Just an idea! 😊

@Maditales, Ikea has metal clamps for fastening the shelves from the top /behind. Sometimes they are included in the package; otherwise, you can buy them separately.

When I saw the stack of books that needed to be added to the shelf and the 1 1/2 additional shelving units, I didn’t think she’d be filling the entire thing (room to grow), so I figured the empty space would be left behind the chair where you couldn’t see/get to anyway This is what I get for trying to guess the ending 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 I’m glad she found a solution she’s happy with 😊
