I learned a lot here. but last problem should not be... AB(A(2bars) + BC(bars)) = AB(A(2bars)) + A(B(Bbar))(Cbar) = ABA + 0 = AB ??.. Anyways, in the upper diagram it does not matter what C is, as long as A = 1 and B = 1 then Y = 1. otherwise Y = 0.

+eTechTom 19:10 can't you then go AbarBbar + AB (can't we swap around the A and B due to commutative law?) would then be 1? Or am I missing something here?

For the last problem: AB(Abar + BC)bar, wouldn't the circuit diagram for that have an inverter at the tip of the OR gate?

Christian Rey Bautista Yes. First use DeMorgan's Theorem to break the inverter sign over the two terms. That gives you A double inverted and with BC inverted. The double inversion cancels giving you A. You now have ABA AND BC inverted . ABA=AB. Use DeMorgan's Theorem to break BC inverted to B inverted OR'd with C inverted. And that expression with AB. That gives you AB AND with B inverted OR'd with AB AND with C inverted. The first term goes to zero because B AND B NOT = 0 leaving just X= AB C inverted.
