Quick question, the place that you checked out after you stopped for gas, that was $46, what was it? Like a campground or overnight parking or just a place to park? I am just getting into boondocking/car camping so I’m watching your videos for research. And like you said I try to pump an extra bit so I do not have a number ending with 666! The water at the dam was so pretty where was that?

It was live a gravel parking lot with hookups for rvs. Ended up in hot springs Arkansas.

Nye Armstrong thanks! I just got back from Hot Springs, I ended up pitching my tent at an Army Corps of Engineers campground. It was about 20 miles south of Hot Springs. It was my trial run and I wasn’t properly equipped. I got very little sleep and it was so uncomfortable! I am going to have to do more research to get better at it. Thanks so much for responding!

Did you have a lot of camping experience before you started the solo car camping?

We would go camping when I was younger. I grew up on the side of a mountain in the middle of a forest in Pennsylvania. So being outside and in nature is a part of me. But then I didn't camp for like 15 years and jumped into solo camping headfirst. Seriously, if you check out my Palo Duro video, you'll see the first time I went camping in over a decade. I think its in my blood... but I think people can be infected really easily. ;) As for car camping it seemed the best option for when i wanted to go places, not necessarily off the regular beaten path. And i fell more safe in a car sleeping alone than in a fabric tent. For me it was a natural progression. I bought my current car with car camping in mind. Even when I had a VW bug, I kept thinking about how I could overnight inside of it. For solo adventures I like the safety and security of a car.

Its easy to keep warm. I HATE camping when its hot outside. I am miserable. The weather wasn't too cold. It got down to mid 30s at the coldest. Typically it was high 40s to mid 50s. I should get Coco a little hobo sack. lol🤓
