Woow, very happy about this video and that you loved the game that much. I think showing one round is a cool concept, as it keeps the video short compared to a complete runthrough. Great series!

Well this comment is a treat for us to get! First of all, thank you so much for bringing this game to life. I've personally played it now 5 times in just over a week, and really enjoyed it every time. I'm glad you liked the video too. We try to make content that we (ourselves) would like to consume, and we appreciate your feedback.

Fantastic video production! I wish more board game channels put this much effort into the clarity of gamefeel and mechanisms used in the game.

Is that all you need? 😄 Thanks for watching. We don't have a Round One scheduled for Bitoku, but we do have an overview video as well as a first impressions video recorded, and in the editing room. So stay tuned.

Did they give any indication when it will ship?

Nothing is certain these days with all of the challenges publishers are facing with shipping, etc. But if not available by the end of the year, it will be very early next.

Good catch! This was Ryan's first play of the game, so that probably explains it. I don't think we've made that mistake in more recent plays.

question the yellow player never moved his boats during the play through. i thought you only get the resources the boat is under?
@meeple3 жыл бұрын
You can get more resources by doin so (and I definitely did use them in later stages of the game), but when you increase your production, it's not dependent on the boats at all. When you increase production, you simply have 1 to 2 of any given resource at all times when needing to pay for things. For example, if my stone production was at +2, then that production would always fulfill any card cost of 2 or less stone. If a card needed 3 stone however, I'd need to move one of my boats under the stone position. I hope this example is making sense, but please let me know if it isn't.

This or Maracaibo with expansion?

Fantastic production - as always ☺️ A question: Love engine building and combos that escalate and makes me feel “powerful”, not the tightness of Newton. Lorenzo I think nailed that. How would you compare this and Golem in that aspect? Also looking at Coimbra and Alma Mater, but love the theme of Boonlake ☺️
@meeple3 жыл бұрын
I think you definitely feel so much more powerful by the end of boon lake. You can just do so much more on your later turns and you get so much more income, much like Maracaibo.

Thanks! This is a good one for sure. That game behind me is Divinus. It's not available yet, but it's a cool app-driven tile placement legacy game coming from Lucky Duck. We have a preview up on the channel at this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWPPoXdvYp55sNk

Thanks! We tend to steer away from full playthroughs unless we're streaming. The kind of video production we try to put in would take quite a bit of time for a full play. 😅

Nice gameplay, yet without knowing the rules I believe that you can't use the hex whith 4 players print on a 2 players game
@meeple3 жыл бұрын
The player symbols on the hexes denote which spaces start with tiles already on them.
@MrPeter13th3 жыл бұрын
@@meeple oh, then the spaces aren't reduced with different players counts
@jimkerney90693 жыл бұрын
The game is solid, but the main problem which you both failed to mention, is that the 2 player game isn't super enjoyable. We've played 4 times now - and in both of our 2 player games - both players were able to max out everything (levers, money and card tracks, all but 1 piece of wood left on their player boards, etc). Maybe we just play different than others, but in our experience the game doesn't have enough built in scaling to make it worth playing at 2. When we can just max everything by the games end, where's the sense of discovery? GWT and Maracaibo are both better games in this regard. Not disparaging your own experience (though Ryan did nearly the same things we both did), but it's definitely a problem.
@meeple3 жыл бұрын
I said this same thing, but it’s player controlled like Maracaibo. If both players decide that they’re going to take their time to build things and move their boats 1 space at a time, then you’re going to be able to do everything. But it players are moving 4 spaces a turn, you won’t be able to do that. It’s a lot like Maracaibo in that respect - one player pushing the end game leaves a very different experience.
@meeple3 жыл бұрын
That's a fair concern potentially, but it really is player controlled. When my wife and I played Maracaibo, we both accomplished A LOT too, because we each moved along very slowly to enjoy "doing all the things" instead of playing more competitively. Also probably a matter of taste a bit too. Most of my plays of Boonlake have been at 2 players, and I've really enjoyed all of them.
@ZakiJeppe3 жыл бұрын
I just played a four played game and it fell flat. We all almost did everything, so none of us were forced to choose a strategy. The action selection felt pointless cause you could move up to 4, meaning you would almost never pick a tile because it was at a certain movement point. We all scored all the "super project". We had almost all levers, all building in play and really many cards. We were at the top of each income track(or one space from the top) The scoring tiles felt pointless cause yeah I got 1 victory point or I lost 1 victory point. We all ended with more than 200 points so that is really pointless. I really wanted to like this game but when I can do everything, then there is no point in playing it more than once.
@meeple3 жыл бұрын
You get one player jumping 4 with every tile and you won’t be doing everything and that player will probably win because they’re preparing for a quicker game.
